Fitting that they're telling people to wear masks now that there's a spike in cases. I swear these public officials and other decision makers are fully incompetent. Mask-wearing was always the key. I guess more people have to get killed for them to pull their heads out of their asses. So much ignorance.

"We conclude that wearing of face masks in public corresponds to the most effective means to prevent interhuman transmission, and this inexpensive practice, in conjunction with simultaneous social distancing, quarantine, and contact tracing, represents the most likely fighting opportunity to stop the COVID-19 pandemic."

Identifying airborne transmission as the dominant route for the spread of COVID-19

I feel bad for Cali. They couldn't get aid and held out as long as they could but now are forced to re-open the economy or else face bankruptcy. They obviously chose to re-open even as their numbers get worse and worse. As bad as New York got at least they rode out the storm before re-opening.

Social distancing isn't possible without Socialism. People should save their fear, hysteria and hand-wringing for the coming fall and winter months, that's when we'll truly see how badly we botched both the economic and public health responses.

Mitch and Trump decided no aid for the states so something had to give. It's disgusting the general public lets them do crap like that unquestioned and unchallenged. These are people's lives on the line and this decision will cause more death.

Our fate was sealed when they gave us $1200 and told us we'll get back to you on the rest. The rest was never coming. Trump could have sealed his own reelection by literally throwing money at the problem and everyone would have shut up, sat down and behaved and given him plaudits just for using common sense.

All they had to do was give proper stimulus checks each month for the rest of the year. smh.

Not only could a vaccine, or at least a treatment, have been worked on during that time but economists would have had several months to hash out a detailed and coordinated plan to bring the economy back on line once we had the virus under control. With the way we did things everyone has been under pressure and we're about to lose both battles.

Once prolonged stimulus was off the table social distancing was crippled. The treatment became a grubby band-aid. It was never realistic to expect such an investment from this Administration and Congress anyway so it was never a realistic solution to be put forth, though obviously the best one. We've been arguing back and forth bitterly about the two horrible options ever since.

All they had to do was not bail out any businesses and instead give all those trillions to the American citizens. The excessive spending that resulted from that would have bailed out the businesses anyway. You give regular people all that money and it's getting spent at those businesses.

Instead they gave it to rich bond holders that don't need it so companies didn't go bankrupt for their inability to pay those rich bondholders back the debt they owed them.
