We don't need sports or large leisure gatherings yet. Some facets of society need to remain suspended indefinitely to maintain some form of mitigation, especially during the fall.

Speaking of large gatherings the CDC has posted it's recommendations for large gatherings during this "new normal." Perhaps the top minds of the Coli can assist this lowly trucker: are large gatherings permitted again or is this a rare proactive move by the Government to already have a set of guidelines ready when large gatherings are permitted again?

Talked to my mother again today. They are getting a surge of patients now. Said they have a bunch of people in the "recovery room" waiting to get a bed because beds are filling up

Asked her if any of the "its a hoax" "Its over blown" individuals had anything to say. Unsurprisingly, they were quiet today :russ:. Again, its sad it requires for people to personally see the effect to understand this shyt.

Said she had a surgeon and nurse come up today talking about how crazy this shyt is. She said they were really busy with this. Said that the hospital recently sent an email saying they may start to cut back on elective procedures again but it will be done on a day by day basis. They really don't want to go back to canceling all of them outright like they did a month or so back.

ain't no way I would put myself at risk like that. It just logically don't make sense. They say is the most contagious virus in history.

They say you can have it and not know that you have it, and still pass it on to others

So why play russian roulette by getting ppl you don't know to make your food?

at least with my family making my food, I have some kind of baseline to say, okay, we weren't exposed that we know of. We stay masked up, gloved up and take all our precautions

the person in the back putting together your burger could be living life YOLO in the pandemic, and then coming in fixing food.

Why risk it?

Plus they're working all day the people handling the monetary transactions. That's a huge chance of contamination.

It's a matter of finance for the professionals and "amateurs" unfortunately. The thing is how will they handle COVID diagnosis while the season is in full swing? Will isolated cases be okay? Will they be able to manage a minor outbreak or will the season need to be suspended if it continues to occur regularly?

If things get too out of hand we can always call America's Governor. He did say he would return the favor.

I wonder if Houston still has that field hospital it dismantled a month or so ago? If things get bad (which would be about 100-300 deaths per day in Texas with an continuing increase in hospitalizations) may as well be ready for it.

I'd put that possibility at about 20% right now. Catch me again in two weeks.

Arizona, in Phoenix. I'm out here myself too for my job in Tucson. Plan on going to see her tomorrow. Will relay more details if she has anything else to share over the weekend.

But, based on what I'm seeing myself where I'm at in the state, even though the news here is talking about how this is now becoming alarming, folks are acting like shyt isn't happening. People are half assing masks. I wonder if they are about to explode like New York out here. At least in Phoenix from what I'm seeing it's crazy there.

So a second stimulus is guaranteed?

because the trump administration is just about done at this point, dude might not even show up for re-election.

I'm thinking not, due to the bolded above. Maybe the next prez though. Our economy is pretty f'd right now, it's gonna get hairy once people start realizing this.

I'm not too concerned with these numbers. I was under the impression that no matter what side of this debate you're on that it was understood that once social and economic activity increased so too would virus infection and death (though the flattened curve is supposed to arrest this).

What I'm beginning to see is that some of the biggest re-opening advocates and even those who participated in implementation either didn't understand what they were doing, didn't understand the consequences or assumed they had more psychological fortitude to handle the trade off than they do in reality. These initial numbers are a reasonable response to the beginning of increased economic and social activity. This is only the beginning. The lows that these states were used to seeing will not return for some time, at least a year. These cases will continue to fluctuate upward and plateau at what I believe is a manageable level, but may be uncomfortable to look at. But if these states are alarmed in this initial period then I just have to assume they didn't understand the trade off they were making or they're more squeamish than anticipated. Or maybe people close to them are affected this round.

Whatever it is, if they weren't prepared for this obvious eventuality they should have used all of their energy to lean on the Federal Government for the appropriate stimulus needed to sustain an effective lockdown instead of reopening. Well, there's no turning back now so they best get their head in the game. If the fumble the public health response they will lose the economy anyway.
