Could a top NYC rapper bring that old NYC/East Coast sound back like Kendrick did or are niccas too gone riverdancing to UK/90's sample drill beats?

This board skews older, none of these artists got multi-generational appeal in comparison to someone like Rocky.

I liked Chow Lee's album but I'm in my 20s. Can't really get into most artists out here. I do kind of agree some views on this are out of touch cause Cash Cobain has industry wide motion in comparison to the dudes on Dots album.

I wish cash Cobain would lock in with a real rapper. I fukk with his shyt he does for my boo pink panthress :wow:

he's just terrible n 2 raunchy on the mic :picard:

Last NY up and coming rapper who brought that NY gritty energy to me was Pop Smoke, yeah the beats weren't "traditional" NY sound but him taking those UK drill beats and putting his spin on it was dope. He had worldwide appeal to me if he'd been alive long enough, plus nobody and I mean absolutely nobody wants those UK drill beats to go to waste by listening to tea and crumpets ass UK rappers. Pop Smoke did those beats justice.

I liked 22GZ....I felt like he had the qualities...flow...n voice.....he was just pigeonholed himself on that gang shyt. Never got the right production either. Pop was light years ahead but he was probably the second best musically/potential wise.

i don't think i have ever listened to a song from son

i am just aware of what's going on around me

tecca is finding success & it doesn't match the constant narrative about the city

Booooy, that NEW NY Gay ballroom dance music y'all got is straight TRASH!

YALL SHOULD be ashamed of yourselves for letting NY music go that way...

Not for nothing there was a lot of gatekeeping......and a everyone who got on moved away quik fast.....plus the end of nightlife......

these new young NY brehs are still searching for an identity.......they went Chicago....then uk....now philly/NJ......musically........

its a weird place cause of weird circumstances.....but I think in the next half a decade or so they'll figure it out.

All it takes is one right producer....like a NY DJ mustard....and its on from there.

Breh you can't listen to 500 pounds or ransom and not immediately identify uzi and a boogie unless you're deaf.

Yams passing was devastating to an entire era of NY hip hop.

Yeah, that's like my first post in here, he doesn't have a great rapper over his beats that would take it to another level.
His beats don’t really lend themselves to lyrical rap imo.

I couldn’t imagine a lyrical rapper making better songs than Cash over the beats he’s making at the moment.

This is it. It’s his moment there’s no guy out there lol.

You don't have to be "lyrical" the way the coli defines it (like Lupe fiasco)

max b isn't "lyrical" and he was the one.

pop wasn't "lyrical" and he was the one.

the idea of traditional "lyricism" hasn't been a thing since like 96`

I rank French high and he aint even close to either.

Being raw music and original is >>>>>>>>>>

Chinx was probably the best blend of traditional "lyricist" to modern raw music.

that's how it is with artists

you hear their influences in their music

tecca young & it would make sense you hear a.boogie & uzi in his music if that's what he listens to the most

even with uzi last single you can hear boogie influence & then remember he stays around a lot of highbridge nikkas as well

it's natural
