Could a top NYC rapper bring that old NYC/East Coast sound back like Kendrick did or are niccas too gone riverdancing to UK/90's sample drill beats?

I love how there’s space in the game for everything in rap except when it comes to boom bap, then its nikkas are stuck in the past and need to modernize when they do embrace it

I’m also tired of nikkas not from the east coast speaking about it

Who are the new lyricists in general?

Let’s keep the standard across the board. Some of these new artists can rap a lil but I wouldn’t call anyone “lyrical”.
This is a good question lmfao.

@ISO a real wild card is kai

he's a nyc uptXwn co-op product

if he starts pushing uptXwn culture explicitly..........

*
Dudes is too old and out of touch on here I’m not part of the Kai generation but I see his motion with the youth and the role he’s played in disseminating NY culture, dance, fashion, vernacular

Between the Kais, the Fanums, rap platforms like OTR, the whole NY drill scene which is a huge subgenre in hip hop, the acts that made it mainstream the Bardis, the A boogies, the Lil Tjays, the Ices the Cashs and that’s just from the X there’s no way the city is irrelevant in any way shape or form in the culture

I understand that....to an EXTENT

Uzi is also kind of universally fallen off....a thing of the past.

Him jacking shyt might confirm proof that he's tapped out.

But like Max B influenced a lot of MCs......a lot of people were showing him mad love in that he coming home in 10 months thread who sound nothing like him...and are Stans....from every region 2......

Like that breh lil T-Jay.......a lot of people felt like he sounded like an A-boogie clone....and people were trying to 2 die on the hill that he didn't.....and I mean cmon if you have ears its undeniable...

and breh has like 10 billion views or whatever.....

but damn even if you listen to his shyt its really low production value......across all metrics.....

congrats on the success.....but its just funny how that doesn't actually translate to global hip-hop respect. what is the disconnect?

There is a demographic for everything. an audience for everything.

Nobody is trying to discredit anybodies success.....get $$$ n clout......but if you talking about MUSIC......

but hip-hop is one of those unique things that if you really that EVERYONE who is from and lives it respects it. and it will be heard and ring out.

LIke Polo G most people on this site would have no idea who he is; but he making moves. And not for nothing his music is forgettable.

This whole social media streaming age has made things real blurred.

and often has you scratching your head......

Its hard for most people to identify even what is actually good versus what is popping at this point and/or manufactured.

like one of my kids is a huge YEAT fan.....and I like creh......but shyt.....

someone like POP SMOKE really transcended and hit every audience possible.....thats different.....there was nothing niche about it.....

that shyt was authentically it.

its weird to even fathom cause you got niche artists who got 30 trillion views.......

not sure if this making sense or not but there it is.......
Lil Tjay is more lyrical than A boogie

They’re both melodic but I always thought breh had his own sauce

He almost lost his life over that beef

Him and Pop had great chemistry on the track

Polo G is nice too breh is poetic but past his first album everything started sounding samey and generic

Its more of an indictment on the forum because artists like Polo nd Tjay really lit in real life and can do huge shows

The Bronx boys rapped better on this than them LA nikkas on that one posse cut on GNX :manny:

Both you and @010101 live in a fantasy land.

NOBODY is bumping this bullshyt in Florida, Atlanta, Detroit, Chicago, Texas or the West Coast. You would get laughed at and thrown out the whip playing shyt like this dog, I'm being 100% real with you.

You've been on this crusade to prop up your city's trash ass music on here for the last several years. That river dancing shyt might find some traction overseas but it has no influence outside of that region.

Several OT rappers namedropped Flock in they rhymes nikkas like NoCap

shyt got 41M views but ima let u tell it

And every city and region mostly bumps their shyt dude this is not a revelation there’s whole streaming maps breaking that shyt down
