Could a top NYC rapper bring that old NYC/East Coast sound back like Kendrick did or are niccas too gone riverdancing to UK/90's sample drill beats?

It can happen but it will take a perfect storm. Because the industry isn’t checking for the NY sound outside of nostalgia. He has to have the look that the women like, he has to have the respect of the men. There needs to be some level of believability to him. He has to be able to rap rap and not just be nice by today’s standards. Have charisma and a level of charm, have star power, have different regions be able to rock with his music and him in general. Easier said than done though.

you know honestly, one person that might could do it is Nicki Minaj. if she copped a few Harry Fraud beats, and had some young drill/jersey club producers flip some gritty neck snapping NYC type bangers, but faster and updated to their style, and if she rapped her ass off properly like she can but never does, then she might be the only one with the skill level and influence to maybe set off some momentum to that sound again

My Pops Forever RIP
I was about to say it. ASAP Rocky restored the feeling in NYC at one point and they could have been the next DipSet but, t88

Drake, Kendrick and J. Cole were dropping albums nonstop in the early to mid-2010s and it felt like Asap and his crew were doing nothing. Rocky should've had an album every year in that era plus a group album.

Live Love ASAP 2011
Lords Never Worry 2012
Long Live ASAP
Trap Lord 2013
At Long Last ASAP 2014
Cozy Tapes 1 2016
Cozy Tapes 2 2017
Playboi Carti 2017
Still Striving 2017
12 2017
Die Lit 2018
Testing 2018

I stopped after that since that's the last time Rocky dropped, but Ferg, Carti, slowthai, Ant, Twelvyy still drop. the LORD album being shelved I don't know why that stopped Nast

LORD got shelved and of course Yams dying slowed them down, but the core members were putting stuff out outside of Nast and Ant
