Agree. Interesting that you used the word survival. I was taught, and life reinforced the lesson ,that Black men have to be aware of surroundings and reality at all times. Our ability to thrive, survive, and even potential life/death moments are based on the ability to soberly assess what is actually happening, and determine how to move.
Other people can delude themselves, and reject reality, but not us.
Three years ago, we pointed to Affirmative Action being gone in a matter of time as a foregone conclusion. Several factors pointed directly to what would eventually happen with the Supreme Court ruling in June 2023. Smilies, jokes, repeating "thought leader" commentary about how it would never get to the SC were some of the responses. Yet, here we are.
Some were so comfortable in the system, that their minds couldn't process that it could be gone. Even with Trump stacked Fed.Courts, and on near deathbed Justice Ginsburg. Echo chamber life will have dudes out there blindsided by reality
I said at the time that regardless of the ruling, that our family's approach to educating the next generation of our family would be the same. Tapping into networks to find every resource to help them build skills to navigate school and profession and put best foot forward.
Having said that, soberly observing what is actually happening, we can assess the nature of the threats and move accordingly. Like you said, a large percentage of the country feels threatened by Black progress. White Fear of no longer being the numerical majority drives this fear of non whites having power. MAGA Trump, his ilk, and the counterparts in state govts have their people embedded in decision making positions in school boards, city councils, state legislatures, and supreme courts to do their bidding. And they are deliberately pushing their line and agendas using the courts.
We have to determine the best courses of actions for our survival. Agency. Simultaneously supporting the political counter, but definitely figuring out community and family actions. Otherwise, we're just sitting around waiting for Dems. to do x,y,z.

The ironic thing is AA are not replacing Whites. Our fertility is way down since 2008 and our share of the US population is remaining steady in all Census forecasts even with Black immigration.
Hispanic and Asian immigration and low White fertility relative Hispanics plays a much bigger role but the smoke is all for us.

So a thread about well funded conservative activists going after initiatives to help black-owned small businesses is only 5 pages after more than 30 hours of being posted.
