Left the city after new years before this took in effect. Wonder if it’s going to make things better. Parking sucked most garages charging $45 and up a night we paid $60 for suv. Hotel was charging 90 a night with no re entry just fukking terrible. New years in NYC was fun though.

the problem isnt people parking in Manhattan- or people commuting into Manhattan ( they are going to park their car and leave it someplace until they have to leave 8 to 9 hours later )

the problem is Uber and Lyft - there were nearly 80,000 to 100,000 of them and they just troll the streets in lower Manhattan all day -

but you know who isnt paying anything for their cars being in the zone all day driving around looking for fares??? UBER and Lyft.

and just a little FYI - most of these "take back our streets from cars" groups like Transportation Alternatives and Riders Alliance who supported and pushed for Congestion pricing

guess who they also get funded by .....

UBER and LYFT

because if you need to use a car - and its inconvenient to use one of your own - you are forced to use whos service???

Ive seen the road sign with the williamburg bridge 9 dollar toll into manhattan on the bqe. :picard: i thought id never live to see the day. :whoo: nyc is officially gentrified. Ny state politicians officially fukked new york up. New jersey is about to get a lot more residents from the boros especially brooklyn because of this shyt. Folks are scared of the subways. Makes you wonder whats REALLY going on. Let crime loose off in the subways to scare more people into driving on the roads lower and midtown manhattan. Then you have them building that gateway tunnel project that goes right into jersey. They know what theyre doing. These folk's greed is outrageous.

All that money ultimately ends up in the hands of some European oligarchs family just like all of our tolls.

They promise to build up infrastructure through several corporations then you're locked into a contract for 100 years where you're paying them for nothing.

Roads I've been driving my entire life now I gotta pay and its several different ones for every bridge and tunnel.

We are so stupid as a nation.

It’s early but I’ve driven to Manhattan twice in the past few days using the midtown tunnel and Williamsburg and it’s way better. Typically during rush hour there’s a 20 min wait just to get into the midtown tunnel from queens and it was like 2 mins yesterday. Then the traffic in the city is way better. Drove from 35th and 2nd to 19th and 2nd without stopping at a red light. If you look at google maps right now there barely any traffic in the city. Drive on broadway from e Houston to canal and it was smooth even though it’s only one lane for cars. It’s usually like you drive one block per green light and I went like 4 blocks. Midtown on 3rd Ave going uptown was super fast. Then driving from the city to queens on the lie and grand central was much better during rush hour. Took me 20 mins less. Don’t think this week is representative but so far it’s helping traffic.

Really? Elaborate on "way better"? :jbhmm:
It’s usually bumper to bumper traffic going towards Manhattan via Lincoln/holland tunnels and there was none of that this week, smooth sailing for both morning and evening commutes. It’s very early still, and people are still on holiday vacation or working from home this week. Plus it was hella brick outside this week, but so far so good.

This article will give you a little more insight
