fukk that

Those multiple ways include bums on the subways and buses, delays on said subways and buses, criminals and people suffering mental health issues on said subways and buses, aging subway systems where 2 inches of rain flood said system, rats and roaches crawling all over said subway systems

I hate when you “don’t drive” people talk that bullshyt. It’s reason why ridership hasn’t returned to pre pandemic levels and there’s more cars on the streets even though they trying to force us off the streets with less parking and more bytch ass bike lanes. fukk this. Manhattan will just be dead to me.

You’re right the nyc metro is a joke. It wouldn’t even rank top 20 in the world I bet. They should just raise a tax for MTA, but they can’t half ass it. Either it’s a public transport utopia like Barcelona or all for cars. This half assing is ruining everything.

'nyc metro'

Are you even from NYC or know the history of the transit system to begin with? This reads like a random bot response because it doesn't make sense

NY Governor seeks to delay congestion pricing! INDEFINTELY !!!:russ::russ::russ::russ:

Gov. Kathy Hochul is quietly maneuvering to delay a plan to toll drivers entering Manhattan’s central business district, just weeks before it is slated to go into effect, according to two people familiar with the discussions.

The first-in-the-nation congestion pricing plan, which has been decades in the making, is slated to start June 30. Drivers using E-ZPass will pay as much as $15 to enter Manhattan south of 60th Street.

But even as Ms. Hochul believes that congestion pricing is good environmental policy, she has concerns that the timing was less than ideal, according to a person familiar with her thinking. The governor feared that it might deter commuters from returning to the central business district, which has yet to fully recover from the pandemic.

it was stupid idea - its was always a stupid idea that the MTA pushed which only reinforces how stupid an idea it was....

The problem or problems with Congestion pricing is the narrative moved from what they said it was about to it being exactly what people thought it was about

If it was about congestion then it never addressed who the real cause of a lot of congestion is which is UBER /Lyff and the other FHV that allow for anyone to be a cab so long as they own a car ...and let's not even go into the street design that ON PURPOSE is made to reduce traffic to a crawl ...if cars are moving slowly OF COURSE there will be congestion .so the City is creating a problem for which they now want us to pay for their solution ..thats not really a solution ...thats called a grift...a scam...a hustle......also called a con.

The article cites how the number of workers is small so why NOT give them a carveout ?? If their number is so small then giving that won't increase the number of cars ...you can't say that they are such a small number and then turn around and say that them not being there would make a significance reduction in the amount of congestion.

But let's get to what the premise is with this previous assertion which is that its about funding and quite rightly with the amount of money the MTA wastes squander and otherwise fukks up ....they undermine their own assertion about how they need $$$ 700M lost to evasion , OT budgets that go into a Billion , hell they spent 500M on building and planning this toll gantries to "discover" that there would be 10s of thousands of cars they would toll that had no intention of going into the CBD ...how does that happen??? Becuasd this was about the MTA getting a revenue stream and thats long before they had the treat of 15B offered to them by the Fed

So in the end Hochul for her crass politicism ultimately got it right ( axiom about broken clocks ) - this city and indeed the mentality of our populace needs to get out of this habit of treating everything as a tiered price plan.

We all pay taxes for the use of our roads - thats why there are taxes - creating another tax to enrich an already bloated agency that has shown no capability in managing its finances and trusting it to do something it said 2 fare increases and an already existing additional fee they just implemented for FHV to do ( .make improvements to the signals and electrical systems to make the trains run better ) what they said they needed it for...

Im.sorry. but MTA fukk off and do some internal cutting and stop holding the citizenry hostage to your greed.

I’m confused why they can’t hop on the train
Depends on where they live. If they live in the burbs, the commuter rail train systems in NYC are far more expensive than the subway is. Also a lot of people who work in NYC live in PA like in the Poconos and such.... There is no train connecting the Poconos and NYC, only a very overpriced commuter bus.

NYC commuter rail is distance based and the futher out you live, the most it costs. Some areas the monthly pass on a commuter rail train from the burbs to NYC is like 400+ dollars a month, and if you don't live within distance of the train station you still gotta pay the monthly expenses of having a car on top of that. LIRR/Metro North/NJ Transit is not broke boi mode of transport, its expensive AF.

I’m curious to see if this actually helps with congestion. I know in London it does help but it’s offset by less lanes for cars and more for bikes in recent years so I think it actually got worse.
