No Whammies!!
If anyone is into running with "minimalist" shoes:
I bought the new Merrell Vapor Glove 4 last week
https://www.rei.com/product/148913/merrell-vapor-glove-4-road-running-shoes-mens

With coupons it came out to $64, so even though my older shoes aren't worn out I figured "why not?"
In the past week they have already become my favorite running shoe. The sole is less flexible than the older versions, but it makes up for it by having much better grip. I did a couple of 5K distance runs on the way home from work this week, and the extra grip seemed to help. The second run I did without socks. Older versions of this shoe used to give me blisters if I tried to run without socks, but even brand new with no break in my feet were fine after 3+ miles.

My "natural' way of running is on my forefoot. My guess is that if you were to run on your heels you probably wouldn't be too happy with these shoes. But comparing them side by side with the older versions can see that the back of the heel is a lot more solid than the older Vapor Gloves. I put one foot (size 13) on a scale and it came out to 7.1 oz.

How long do running shoes last you guys? I just got a pretty expensive pair of ASICS at the end of December and feel like they are already done. I do about 3 miles a day and throw in some sprint works out a few times a week.

U gotta rotate...

Most shoes start breaking down at 350 miles from what I heard...

I got at least 3 pairs...

3 pairs of serviceable sneakers at a decent price will last longer than 1 expensive pair

A fleeting childhood
currently running in Nike free rn flyknit. I like em but I don’t really be running anything more than 3 miles at a time . I take my dog running with me so it’s mostly HIIT on roads

Strava has a function that lets you track which shoes you're wearing and how many miles are on each one. Looks like my most used shoes have about 360 miles.

If I can be guilty of a little "humble bragging" :
Today I tried (and utterly failed) to recapture a Strava record I set two years ago for trail running on Hook Mountain next to the Tappan Zee bridge

Two years ago I ran this in 1:03:06, but then someone came along and knocked me off the number 1 spot by running it in 57:40. Since then, I can't even come close to my original time.

Really didnt feel like running yesterday so I decided to go for a hike and snap some shots of this waterfall not far from where I live. I haven't been this sore in a minute but I may start substituting my long runs with moderate to difficult hiking trails

350 to 450. I notice in my ultra boost, once I get close to 350, the soles start chipping away

Did 6 Miles in central park and 3 by Chelsea piers...

That Chelsea piers crowd tho:francis:

Too much going on in both areas unless you get there early breh. I dread Central Park because there's too much action in there. Horses, tourists, people crossing your path, random parks dept trucks in the way even tho the park is supposed to be car free now. youre better off running the path along the west side highway headed north or simply run earlier and avoid everything.

I tried the ws highway once..from like 69th to 125th, unless I missed something, there was no way for me to get to the other side if I wanted to leave..:deadmanny:

you can dip out at 125th or 145th since that part of the running path it below the park but there are multiple exits along the way. some people will do the whole route but most will just do half. the stretch from the 50s and below just gets too congested with people and bikes along with the path simply being too narrow to handle two way "traffic" but as you go further uptown it evens out a bit. But if you want something a little closer to civilization, just run up Riverside since the park is wide enough or you can run in the street against car traffic (which there isnt too much of on that street)
