I use to run in them exclusively (and I'm talking LD) but they started fukkin with my joints in my knee which compounded with lower back issues. Refuse to wear another pair ever
i've been really lucky in being naturally healthy with joints and knees and vertebrae (so far, im only 30) :ehh: i apparently am also lucky with low lactic acid too according to casual doctor advice and amateur runner science

i think shoes are like every other part of running, highly specific to the individual

what's your pre-run routine, on that note? like shyt you must do in order to have a good run

I have to have two slices of brown/wheat bread with peanut butter and banana slices with half a glass of water. Usually 5-15 min of static stretching. Mostly quads, hammy's, calves and flexors. I still sometimes just turn on music and go. I really don't do much postrun stretching unless it's my LD runs on Saturday.

Anyone down with participating in a monthlong virtual run? Mileage?

i down a banana real quick :dame:

i usually walk a block and just go. i lost part of my big toe recently and until about a year ago couldn't use my nose to breathe. so i've had some considerable setbacks :bryan:

virtual run meaning like a certain amount of miles in a month? im down but im doing fartlek so not hitting max mileage

trying to run at 12:00/mile is frustrating

It's a process breh. At my peak, I was doing 7:00 min mile pace up to about the 5 mile mark (which is crazy because I'm a sometime smoker). Now, anything between 8:15-9:00 min and I'm cool. I run my own race now. It's more about distance and not time to me

yeah i do it for the distance. i meant to say in the last post that the fartlek training has me doing 2-5 miles at a 12/mile pace, which is hard because of how slow it is. i hit about 8:30 for a 2-4 mile run on a good day. im pushing distance more than speed, too, but i dont wanna just lag through 10 miles, either.

doubt i'll get to 7 min for 5 miles, but if i can push distance to 26+ and keep it under 10 for a good chunk of that within a 12-18 months, i'll be happy

Resurrecting this old thread since I'm looking to get back into running since slacking off after my half marathon in January and I don't see a current running thread.

Preferred running shoe: Merrell Vaporglove 3 Luna. Last year was Vivobarefoot Primus Light (I'm still into the old minimalist shoe fad)

GPS/Run app: Polar Vantage V / Strava

Mileage per week: Averaged 8 last year, mostly trail running. If you count hiking I did 14 per week.
So far this year my running average is down to 3 per week (really slacking off this winter).
I haven't touched a treamill in years, I only run outside.

Races for 2019: Fred Lebow Half Marathon in January. I'm signed up for the NYRR Queens 10k in June.

Ran the Houston Half Marathon in January well. Not great but better than when I ran it in 2016. I want to run another half in Reno in May . I know I can get some of my speed back from my h.s. days . Even though its been nearly two decades, I think it can be done. Saw flashes of it during a trail run two weeks ago :leon:

Currently running in the Adidas Solar Boost but I wanna cop the new version of the Nike Wildhorse 4 when they drop in April for the trail.

When I was in high school I couldn't run 1 mile in under 12:30 :flabbynsick:

This year I averaged 9:30 per mile over the entire half marathon, and I was actually disappointed that I wasn't able to finish in under 2 hrs.

Oh yeah, and that's at age 44 :old::old:
