10 Cloverfield Lane - Lots of suspense. I enjoyed this movie though the last 15 minutes seem incredibly rushed.

How To Be Single - Terrible Movie. Never watch this even if you like someone in it.

Zoolander - Gearing up to watch the sequel so I watched the original for the first time. Pretty funny thought I wish i saw it back when it dropped.

Jean-Marc Vallée (The Dallas Buyers Club, Wild) remains a great director with no clue about pacing, so much like Dallas Buyers Club this otherwise stellar well-acted and well-written drama goes on a bit too long for its own good. Gyllenhaal is excellent (of course) as a yuppie who goes through a phase of complete social and emotional detachment after his wife dies, and Naomi Watts and Chris Cooper do their thing in the supporting roles. It's mostly set apart by the fact that although most of the movie is stuff that only happens in a movie, the emotions of the characters feel genuinely honest which gives the movie far more power than your average Hollywood drama.

A fantastic neo-noir thriller, much like Blood Simple. Not as great as that masterpiece, but definitely worthy of the comparison. I miss Dennis Hopper.
