High grade cinematic piff One of the greatest pieces of media ever made. Firing on all cylinders. Whole ensemble cast is on point, the cinematography is excellent (the Christmas portion especially), one of the more layered villains I've seen in anything (Bishop Vergerus), it's equal parts funny as hell and emotionally moving. It's much more lively than most arthouse movies so don't go into it thinking it will be boring or pretentious. Watch the 5 hour tv version, you won't regret it. Easy 10/10

Had this in my Netflix queue for a while, after a friend recommended it. Wild ride of debauchery with McAvoy having a kinetic performance throughout.
