It's not soo much about that...yes this year's election is important however, in regards to the Democratic Party's agenda, 2028 was and is supposed the year of the new regime meaning “out with the old and in with the new”.

2028 is the year where newer, younger, and fresher Dems lead the party into a new stage/agenda and 2024 was going to be the last of the old regime with Biden leading the swan song setting the stage up for the new era. That's why a lot of the older Dems have slowly started to defer to the younger ones.

Kamala, Gavin, Gretchen, etc are all a part of the new regime. That's why Gavin has made it clear he's not interested right now, and Gretchen has been pretty quiet possibly hinting that she's not interested either. That's why if Biden steps down Kamala would be next in line but I don't she wants it either, not because she isn't confident in herself but because she like the others is waiting for 2028 so they each can better position themselves and approve upon their agendas and potential campaigns to have a better chance.

Right now isn't the best for them, especially with the short amount of time left we're almost in August...which is why the major Dem candidates that could take over if Biden steps down aren't supportive of the idea of Joe stepping down.

why are we talking about new and younger candidates in 2028, if trump could win now and end those prospects

it's this mixed messaging, hypocrisy, and lack of transparency that people dislike about establishment politicians and especially establishment democrats.

bernie was very clear about what his platform is and how he'd get it done. we didnt care if he was 1000 years old, it made sense. this wheel spinning democrats are doing now is dangerous and will only cement Trump's victory.

Whether she was incompetent or all of that was nonsense leaked by Biden's people it seems undeniable that she was not given the same grace or respect that Obama gave Biden as VP. The VP is a powerless position via the constitution, the only power it can receive is directly from the president. And Obama made Biden one of the most powerful VPs in American history. I don't think a president is required to automatically do that for a VP and I get why Biden would view himself as not needing a strong VP in the way that Obama felt he needed one but still. It sounds like they didn't meet much and she wasn't given much to do. And whenever Biden started struggling in polls, his team started sniping her. And surprisingly her team never really fought back. Which tells me she's loyal and smart: she knew this day was coming.

Biden seems more than capable to sit in the WH listening to reports, calling world leaders, and making decisions from 11AM to whenever he's too tired and goes to bed. The journalist reports I've seen say he's alert and knows his stuff, and we got a glimpse of that during the NATO press conference. Let him focus on that while Kamala campaigns as the nominee.

Biden's campaign was even open about being a one-term at one point, and then Kamala of all people gets VP out of nowhere? Hubris led the DNC to believe they could force her through. For what.

And now one of the worst case scenarios is up, and its increasingly absurd to defend due to the stakes being what they were.

There's no way to defend Kamala getting the VP nod in earnest. Like, I can try calling people that are done with her white supremacists - but the first left-aligned people who decided they wanted zero parts of her were democrats.

What the Democrats are doing right now doesn't make any since, because when you look at trends like at 538; Biden's chances of winning are actually improving and he is at 53% right now to Trump's 47%. Trump has a ceiling and the Democrats know it. So them trying to force Biden out publicly so late in the game is just dumb. This is self inflicted chaos at this point.
