This is tough. I voted for MMLP being classic but the more I think about it I'm conflicted. Rap wise Em puts on a clinic. But in hindsight a lot of the production sounds empty and soulless. I hate using the word soulless because it has racial connotations but I'm using it in reference to how little life the drums and bass have. It's very to the point and mechanical which makes it sound stale to me today.
Also I think lyrically it's dated. The celeb beefs and fukkery feels corny to me now. That being said the Puff/Jennifer Lopez line still makes me laugh to this day.
Impact...tough one. You could say it further helped mainstream hip hop. I don't think it had a major impact on white rappers though. There was no explosion of white rappers then, whereas now we're seeing more and more.
