Maybe not by magazines etc but heard a lot of people cite a Pac album as a GOAT album, 1 of the last 3, particularly AEOM or 7DT. Even myself personally my GOAT album AEOM. So I guess it depends what's through what medium and by who.
I think Pac runs into the Outkast problem to have. He doesn't have one clear standout album.
Those last three albums are all classics, undisputed, but there's no consensus that one particular album is the best. So either they are all GOAT contenders :scusthov:
Or none of them are. :yeshrug:

But Kast have 2 genuine GOAT contending albums, and the one that isn't is HUGELY influential. That's the difference.

Don't disagree with me breh, we were going so well

The sample in "What'z Ya Phone #" is actually pretty creative. It's one of Johnny J's best beats too imo and Pac absolutely shreds it; his flow was impeccable on that track. The three minute sex skit at the end is awkward though and ultimately brings down the song.

----

@StillNotSoft A Richie Rich and 2Pac collaboration is classic stuff. "Ain't Hard 2 Find" is another classic record too, especially in the Bay Area.
What was creative about the Time sample? :jbhmm:
I love that song, but it just wasn't right to rap over. Pac sounded awkward as hell over it. :yeshrug:
The sex skit at the end was awful, the skit on the OG was :wow:
B-Legit's flow on Ain't Hard To Find :wow:

The 'rest of the world' is NOT the hip-hop community, which this poll is geared towards. I don't need people unfamiliar with the culture to start commenting. It's easy to support Pac in any way possible because he transcended the culture as an artist, more so than the Wu-Tang did.

But the hip hop community knows what's real. And that doesn't mean AEOM isn't necessarily better than Wu Forever, but I don't think it is, and I'm not alone either.

definitely. Although it is most enjoyable especially coz it's shorter lol. To me at least.

Just say the eastern coastline of the United States Of America knows what's up....Pac got the rest of the globe on lock.

I think I get what you're saying. I think cause those 3 albums were so good and consistent in terms of quality there's not a definitive ONE album that Pac fans or Hip Hop fans in general consider THE best 1 as people say different choices. I like that though to be honest as I think it mean you have numerous excellent albums without it being too obvious which is the 1 great/classic/stand out album. The most popular pick I heard was All Eyez On Me, I've heard that A LOT over the years, by street dudes and just the average head all over, consistently heard that over and over again, when you have a board like this it normally represents a certain type of audience, I'm sure there's street dudes on here too, especially nowadays with the internet being so huge, but in the streets heard All Eyez On Me a lot, amongst artists, producers etc too. It was a huge album with some legendary iconic songs, very popular, on a worldwide basis too.

WIth that in mind, even you agree the album isn't really divisive at all:sas1:
Yeah. I think the argument that its not a classic is incredibly weak. Album is :wow:
I just copped the vinyl not too long ago...I'm sure it was my purchasse that pushed the album to diamond :lolbron:
Still, I didn't like it as much nowadays as I did back in 96 :ohhh:

Lets not ever play ourselves and think nikkas who could care less about lyrical hiphop, and cats who don't really listen to east coast music like that
I don't consider people who only listen to what's hot in their area and the radio to be hip hop fans for the purpose of this discussion.
Or really at all.
A real hip hop fan is going to seek out the best shyt from everywhere. You are gonna have your preference, east/west/south...but you'll be able to appreciate the best of the best from other areas.
That's how it was growing up in CA :yeshrug:
We all had a bias for Bay shyt and West Coast shyt to a lesser degree, but people knew what was up with shyt from other areas.

All Eyez on Me doesn't have the quality. Making it a double album hurt it imo in terms of that, so it rules it out for me as a classic album, although it certainly has influence and impact and relevance.
I agree with this. Pac is my personal goat but I cut that album to about 16 joints in my itunes. I still gave it the classic nod cause its fukkin All Eyez On Me. That's like his league MVP, NBA Title season.

But just because you don't argue hiphop all day like us,or listen to as much as we do,doesnt mean you cant form a valuable opinion...because you've likely been listening to a lot of hiphop your whole life if your young and black, and have been fans of many many artist, and know what a classic feels and sounds like....I don't think the casuals get it wrong any more than the diehards personally....Most black folks are casuals, which is why I have to come to thecoli to have real discussions for the most part....But the track record shows they know whats classic and whats not....and at least if casuals call something classic on some reactionary shyt, they will forget they said it...Diehards will go to they grave repeating something is classic, and try to force it down peoples throats
Interesting.
I wouldn't describe the bolded as a casual fan though.
I think the casuals, almost by definition are gonna not know what's up beyond a surface level.
Problem is, in the 90s, we were spoonfed classic shyt. They played it on the radio and the video shows. It wasn't hard to come across. It was prominent shyt. So a casual fan probably would know more back then :jbhmm:
That's not the case anymore. What's popular ain't always good.
