I agree with this. Pac is my personal goat but I cut that album to about 16 joints in my itunes. I still gave it the classic nod cause its fukkin All Eyez On Me. That's like his league MVP, NBA Title season.

yeah and I totally understand that perspective. Like I feel stupid in some ways saying it is not a classic because you always hear it in conversation and it is Pac's most recognisable album. But ultimately, if quality is a pre-requisite for me and it doesn't meet that requirement, it won't make it.

I voted MATW in without hesitation and I feel it deserves to be in that elite category because the quality is there first and foremost.

MATW, AEOM and 7TD are absolute classics.

Re AEOM....I've always struggled with the suggestion theres too much filler. As some have mentioned, the second disk is more west coast so ultimately that's where the division starts. Second CD is of very high quality. When I see someone say Rather be ya is filler.....I know that's just a personal taste. I couldn't disagree more, but that's opinion.

Ultimately if someone asked me "do I wish it was one disk of the 14 or so best tracks " I'd say hell no! If I did, I would have been done that shyt already :pachaha:

As for kayne:yeshrug:. I'm stuck between zero and 1. Putting my personal distaste for the man to one side, I think I'd have to say CD is a classic. I take no pleasure in saying this.

@Inspect Her Deck I like what your doing wit these coli classics, good threads (missed the other 2). Only suggestion I'd have is to just do one artist at a time, rather than two together. Both of these artists specifically will draw enough responses for a healthy debate (or all out war).
Subscribe to the hashtag breh. You ain't got to miss shyt.

@Inspect Her Deck got more threads coming...:wow:

Sorry breh :mjcry:
I think the first three Kast albums are classics, but not GOAT contenders.

as long as they get 3 names on the holy grail list, I'm all good

I think Aquemini and ATLiens (probably Southernplaya too) are better than any Pac album. Certainly the first 2. I kinda compare OutKast to Tribe.

Speaking of Tribe, I'm torn about PITPOR's status but we'll save that for the thread itself. And Mecca and the Soul Brother...

I think reasonable minds can differ on what the consensus is. For AEOM, I voted yes, but it's not as if the album wasn't criticized in real time for filler and content. Some people on here think the album only got burn on the west coast @Wacky D

:dahell:

i never said that.

2pac was never regional at any point.

you must have me confused with somebody else.
or its my quote about another rapper. but not pac.

I actually enjoyed a lot of the subject matter on pac's debut and strictly 4 my nikkas but the production held him back. In my opinion MATW was his most complete album because he was the most vulnerable there. I know interscope switched a few tracks around but it still came out perfect.

All eyez on me was also a classic, it was a double and there will always be filler tracks but it didn't stick out like a sore thumb on the album. Giving his prison release date and everything that surrounded him at that time, that album is also a classic. And of course so was the makaveli album which goes without saying. But the album I wanted to say was a classic as well was the thug life album, it was a group effort but it had classic songs and was a complete album and felt like a pac solo.

Pac had a lot of different things going on and when you mention "GOAT" for any rapper it becomes very subjective for a variety of reasons. But a lot of guys on the coli and in real life who are of age may consider themselves hip purists and I don't see if we're judging on the merit of music along how anyone can deny MATH, THUG LIFE album, AEOM and makaveli has not being classic.

That arguably 4 consecutive albums full of classic material with maybe 2 or 3 filler tracks combined! That's unprecedented. That alone will ALWAYS be why he's considered one the GOATS and will always have a place on rap's Mt. rushmore of rappers.

As far as kanye, late registration was classic in my book, I also may throw in graduation as a personal favorite but most people don't think so. But that's about it.

What was creative about the Time sample? :jbhmm:
I love that song, but it just wasn't right to rap over. Pac sounded awkward as hell over it. :yeshrug:
The sex skit at the end was awful, the skit on the OG was :wow:
B-Legit's flow on Ain't Hard To Find :wow:

Who would have thought to sample The Time's "777-9311" in rap? I don't think he sounded awkward until the phone skit, but maybe that's just me.

Nope. It was 2Pac's tracklist and 2Pac's singles. He picked it in prision.
