evans, the thor guy and the hawkeye guy were good but they are not huge box office draws like that, and their performances were hardly inimitable. The internet would whine and complain and moan but ain't nobody boycotting Avengers 2 cause Thor was replaced with bulky long-haired white dude #1489

Downey can't be replaced. He carried the first movie and the audience would not accept some random dude doing a cheap imitation. The success of the first Iron Man started this whole Avengers movement in the first place, future sequels are a flop without him and I can't fault him for using his leverage to milk the fukk out of the studio

I wouldn't say Robert Downey Jr carried the Avengers...fans were laughing HARD during alot of that Hulk stuff..they did get loud and had alot of chuckles over Downey's lines too. They liked the Johannsen part where she pretended to break down over Hawkeye and got that info from Loki while he was locked up. I get the point because he did start the whole franchise and is the MVP of the series.

Get that money. Robert Downey is going to ride with them too. Robert is really the only one truely banking off the whole Marvel/Avengers movement. He's making 30-50 Million dollars and there are talks he may get over 50 Million just for "The Avengers 2" and another 50 Million to do either "Avengers 3" or "Iron man 4". When you pay 1 guy that much money it takes up a lot of budget. He got 20 Million for "The Avengers" and 30 Million for "Iron Man 3". But "IM3" is already at 700 Million after 2 weeks overseas and 1 week in the states. So Robert is bringing in the box office. "Thor" did pretty well but that was funny when Chris hemsworth said he got more money from "Snow White" then he did on "The Avengers".

Scarlett is the only female so she's a draw in that way. Sure he's not really a big box office star but she's a pretty good actress and she bring balance to all the testosterone. The point is Marvel wants to give RDJ the big contract but nobody else? Everyone should get rises and Marvel better address this cause it will mess it all up of Chris, Scarlett or any of the main cast members don't come back. I think the actors have a strong bargaining chip here. RDJ doesn't need Marvel anymore, they need him. "The Avengers" made 1.5 Billion Worldwide, that's not counting home video and TV sales. Marvel can be cheap sometimes, you see how they did Terrence Howard when he made more money then everyone on "Iron Man" but they tried cut his pay down for the sequel after the 1st one was a success. Robert learned his lesson from Terrence, that's why he's riding now.
