Chris Hemsworth & Scarlett Johansson may not return for Avengers II

I understand that RDJ is a box office draw, but the Avengers is supposed to be an ensemble cast. that he got all that bread for Avengers compared to what they got. but to him if him holdin out for the others to make more money is true

This explains his cryptic answer to Jon Stewart's question on The Daily Show last week.

Stewart asked him about sequels and he hesitated...and then said we'll see and something about negotiations and getting him back.

Their whole persona is the exact same, hes basically either in character all of the time, or barely acting at all. The role is perfect for him tho and I couldnt imagine anyone else doing it for at least another 5 years

cant believe people actually think replacing actors wont matter.

the average movie goer didnt give a shyt about the iron man character. he wasnt a batman,superman or wolverine level.

i see people bringing up that ironman had been pushed up to a tier one comic etc. as if that means hes a big character. maybe,just maybe marvel were planning the movie and wanted to do a big push?

as far as what rdj brought to the role?he is that character perfectly,he nailed.

and rdj not being a draw elsewhere is irrelevant. soetimes actors are tied to franchises in an inexplicable way.

a good parallel to draw would be vin diesel and the fast and the furious franchise and xXx.when he left his others movies flopped(man apart,knockaround guys etc) and by the third film the franchise was done. vin returns the fourth and the franchise explodes again.

xXx was a massive success, when he left they replaced him and the franchise died.

because of the success vin got universal to make another riddikk film.

Before the movies, you could argue that Ironman was less popular than Hulk, Wolverine, Daredevil, Thor, and Captain America. And yet Ironman movies make far more money than any of those franchises. Why? RDJ.

overall ironman is not more popular than wolverine, even now, the difference is that the wolverine/last x-men movie(s) sucked

i think ironman's popularity movie wise is due to folks that were not into comics getting exposed to the character for the first time through the movies (Ironman was never really that big in comics)...those same group of people knew of Wolverine and the Hulk even without comic book knowledge. ...ironman is more so a breath of fresh air

he has the ability yes.

BUT, audiences would never connect with him as tony stark. he could play the role perfectly,but audiences would still see tom cruise,they wouldnt see tony stark.

rdj and this role are a perfect marriage,to the mainstream. To an avid comic reader they dont care,they arent there to see rdj. but thats not the market making these a success.

I just don't see how DC can go with Batman and leave his mask on for every fight scene (except when Bane fukked him up), but Marvel just has to have everyone take off their masks constantly. I mean,, Christopher Bale is a bigger actor than EVERYONE that marvel has. If he can do the movie without the extra bullshyt face time, I think the marvel leads could deal with it.

The thing about the shyt with the masks is, even casual fans are complaining about it now. Especially with the Spider-Man movies.
