Even though the character had been around for decades, there had never been a live action Ironman. And most people who've seen the movies never read the comics, so Tony Stark was as fresh as Jack Sparrow to them.

That's true, but what has RDJ done with the character that another actor couldn't (besides be the first to play Tony Stark)?

There's nothing about Downy's performance that makes him irreplaceable. He didn't bring anything to the character that wasn't already there. Just get another good charismatic actor to fill the role.

If the Iron Man franchise is in any danger it's not because of RDJ possibly stepping away, it's because they've completely ran out of Villains for him to fight. Iron Man has the weakest Rogue's gallery out of the major Marvel characters.

There were tons of rumors that they were gonna switch actors..even a quote i read earlier about malfoy saying they were ALL scared the studio was gonna switch actors after movie #4 and start fresh.

Its gotten to the point where Robert Downey Jr = Tony Stark

Their whole persona is the exact same, hes basically either in character all of the time, or barely acting at all. The role is perfect for him tho and I couldnt imagine anyone else doing it for at least another 5 years

Downey made the bulk of his on the back end. Can't be mad that his agent game better than their agent game. I don't even understand how you enter one of these franchises without a mean contact especially when you're a name like all of them are except for Hemsworth.

Yeah RDJ agent was on point. I saw some interview somewhere where RDJ was going to take a front end deal that was gonna be something like a flat 20 mil per iron man movie, but his agent was like i think it would be better if we took the backend money...

What they can get away with is going to depend on what the new thor and captain america movies do...

And I can really see Hemsworth saying fukk this...since he is already lined up to the snow white sequel...he is a major character in that so they are going to have to pay him for that movie...probably figures it is just not worth his time or the roids he is pumping himself full of
