china is just letting the US know it can defend itself militarily if necessary. because china also knows it will never be able to capitalize on its economic advantage if it cannot defend itself militarily. the US has no problem escalating into violence to achieve its ends so china has to make the war option so devastating to the US that we will be forced to honor our economic obligations.

if china did not have sufficient military capabilities the US would just be on its bully...

disaster for the US and China but i do believe that China would come out much worse from such an event.

This, at absolute worst, is just another Cold War situation. Nothing gonna happen here, just a lot of posturing back and forth. And chances are the Chinese would attack the bases in the Pacific first or simultaneously as another attack is being launched..they wouldnt just attack the west coast and leave the bases in the Pacific unharmed.

Damage would be significant on both sides...economic, political and physical. Im not so sure many US allies would get involved though..

not only that, but the U.S has to be very careful where it targets since it has neighbors nearby. Fallout would be huge and would poison everyone in the region. The chinese could lose the entire population of the U.S and STILL have more people than America. They can also live in harsher conditions, no electricity, no running water, heck this is something many chinese had to go through just 2 decades ago. America has NEVER had to go through harsh times. It would be Katrina times 100, and with armed militia roaming around. There is no win win, just lose lose. The economy of the U.S crashing would pretty much put the entire world on pause. America has WAY more to lose than China (obviously).

This isn't a case of, we launch and go unharmed, its a case of america launches and everyone gets fukked up, and america loses it's superpower status overnight, while bringing in Russia retaliation and pretty much fukking up the whole planet.
