drastically reducing the rate of violent crimes committed in a specific area, however, can, and has been done, in places such as:
- new york
- los angeles
- london
- glasgow
- japan
the problem is that, whenever i hear folks talk about "the crime problem in chicago" in 2019 it's pretty much a white supremacist talking point, insinuating chicago is a gang infested hell hole that needs to be expunged, when places like nashville and anchorage have higher rates of violent crime. and you won't get anywhere trying to play dog whistle politics when it comes to issues such as this.

People laugh when I can name numerous gang-bangers in Chicago who are children of nuclear family units. They're some of the most vicious because they're getting guidance from a father who gang bangs/use to and a mother who is supportive. Some of the most demonic "drillas" in Chicago come from loving homes.

There's a culture of being a "real nikka" that's glorified amongst hundreds of black neighborhoods across the country. I grew up in a middle class black neighborhood yet there were still gangs, people being shot, drug dealing etc. Y'all can call me a c00n all you want but the whole glorification of street life that started to creep into black neighborhoods in the late 60s/early 70s was easily one of the worst things to happen to black people.

Also one of the biggest issues has been the constant closing of the boys and girls clubs, ymcas and playgrounds in chicago.
Anyone who is familiar with chicago and is over the age of 28 Knows how schools use to have playgrounds set up for kids to have activities after school. These were playgrounds attached to the school where teachers would head up activities from when school ended to 9 at night. This was used as a means to keep kids off the streets. Sadly these playgrounds after school setups began getting shut down over the last 25 years.
Also due to gentrification in chicago YMCAs and Boys and Girls clubs have also been shut down throughout the city the last 30 years. These organizations were big in Chicago with giving kids activities and a meand to stay off the street.
