My whole thing is they mention what Caitlin has “accomplished” by bringing in views. It was the media who hyped her up in the first place. Also, Angel Reese not only being black and flashy, but doing the hand wave towards her in the championship game after beating her had a LOT to do with the hype Clark receives because of white people feeling the need to “stand up” for her. I hate how the media gives Clark the credit alone. Had she played a mostly white team and nothing extra went on, Clark would’ve just been another #1 pick like Plum or Ionescu.

I will give her all of her due credit that she has been the biggest draw the league has probably ever seen up to this point, but if she doesnt pan out to be a star the league isn't going to fold because of it
Aside from her playstyle and history making scoring, a big part in her coming in with as much hype as she has is the whole NIL thing, college athletes are now able to be marketed in a way that the women before them coming into the league wasnt, college wbb has always been more popular than wnba and now theres a whole different element to make the individual players bigger stars as well and Caitlin(as well as Angel) happens to be the first beneficiary of that
You'll see the same amount of hype and anticipation when Paige Bueckers comes out next year and whoever else emerges in the upcoming season, Juju's hype is going to be out of this world if she continues her current play all 4 years

The ONLY reason people will stop tuning in is if Clark ultimately doesn’t live up to the hype. A hard foul isn’t gonna stop people from watching. In FACT, when the Sky and Fever play in two weeks, it will be a must watch game.
