As someone else has said, unless your $ opportunity is much greater in Raleigh than in Charlotte, choose Charlotte. And that is not a knock to Raleigh, because, as someone else also said, Raleigh can be pretty dope in and of itself. The problem, is that in this thread it is being compared to Charlotte, which is on a whole ‘nother tier.

Raleigh does have a decent sized Black population and women everywhere you turn, though. Also a lot of college and college oriented stuff if you’re into that environment. And the most fun part of Raleigh living, to me, was the proximity to Durham and Chapel Hill. It all makes for one big tri-fecta of adventures outings partying and f*cking, if you’re a single man with something going for himself.

Has anything changed regarding this? From everything I read, Raleigh has come a long way. Has Raleigh improved since this post in 2013?

Raleigh was never a bad option. I think it comes down more to preference. Charlotte does lead in entertainment options and its a bigger all around city so of course there are more amenities. With Raleigh, you have to view it not just as one city, but part of the greater Triangle area which includes Durham, Chapel Hill, etc. Charlotte takes up like 90% of Mecklenburg county and is really the only game in town for that region so the development is more concentrated.

Anyway, if you're considering Raleigh, i wouldn't count it out. city is very clean and has a much lower crime rate than Charlotte, better schools, etc and it's one of the fastest growing areas of the country.

If I was choosing between the two I would go with wherever I found a job. Also, IT/Engineering/Gov't = Raleigh. Banking and Finance = Charlotte.

Charlotte is always gonna be the better option so long as it has the huge lead in amenities...

Fine women abound in both places, plenty of money to be made in both...

Raleigh has really grown on me. Not my favorite place ever and you can get bored after awhile but there's plenty of things to do and it's a very, very comfortable place to live...

I'm sorry, being in Texas has me bumping all these Carolina threads. Texas is so wack...

If Texas didn’t have Houston that hellhole would be Florida status. I’d pick boring ass New Mexico over Texas

I will say the prisons upstate are run by Charlotte and Raleigh heads. It's interesting to watch, and while neither are stupid violent cities on the streets Raleigh dudes are really, really active with the knife-play and prison politics...

For a young professional.....................Charlotte.

Want to raise a family..........................Raleigh. Although downtown Raleigh can now cater to young professionals. Also, you have access to Durham/Chapel Hill.

Smart money is live on the outskirts of Fayetteville so you in between Raleigh and Fayetteville 30 minute drive each way. While living in a huge house in a quiet neighborhood for the low.

Southern Pines, Hope Mills, Raeford, Holly Springs, Cameron, Sanford, Fuquay-Varina and Apex it’s a lot of places in between Fayetteville and Raleigh where you can live like a king. Me personally I rather live spaced out than amongst a bunch of people. My house now got a big backyard with a in-ground pool and spa. My son starting to get into basketball I already hired someone with a backhoe who can lay concrete down for a half court. I prefer this way my house is big and my neighbors are old. Quiet neighborhood just the way I like it. Maybe if I was younger without a family I would enjoy a more metro area.

Which one of them backwater towns you live in bro 🤣...

None of those places are really in between Raleigh and Fayetteville either. Sanford and Southern Pines somewhat, all the other towns are basically right on Raleigh or Fayetteville border...
