Since Im here in NC and visit both often....

Charlotte is more of a metro, has the Panthers, downtown and feels like an actual city. You got Carowinds, the Panthers, Bobcats, Nascar, the mall, and the Galleria.

Raleigh is an overgrown college town. Traffic is horrible. Entertainment options aren't that bad for a city it's size for nightlife, restaurants, etc. but you're limited. Nice shopping areas and malls but overall not much to do during the day in my opinion. Durham is probably the jewel of this area though it has some hood spots some parts of Durham are really nice if you're going to settle down.

All in all, I'd probably pick Charlotte if I had to choose. The airport, sports options, regular concerts/events and the yearly CIAA events make it heads and shoulders the best city for someone who's not settled down.

Raleigh by way of Crooklyn
I just moved to Raleigh. Love it here so far.

But I’m :flabbynsick: and just wanna go to church, cookout in the yard and stack money.

Been here since 2005. I don't do the whole "about town" thing with a wife and kids. To me the city is like one big suburb. Even Durham has more of a downtown than Raleigh, IMO. I like it here, though, I'm glad I wound up here rather than Charlotte like I had originally planned.

Yeah I originally wanted to go to Greensboro or Charlotte but the job offer was in Durham. I looked at houses in Durham but found way more options in Wake County. Me and the wife were overwhelmed by how many good choices we had. Pretty much got a Mini Mansion for the same price we were paying for a condo in D.C.

Between that, the traffic and how friendly the people are down here I’m glad we moved. I can see myself retiring down here.

It costs like $400,000 to get an old sfh that’s falling apart in Philly :mjcry: For $250,000 you can get a brand new 2100 sq ft 4 bedroom in NC. If I can find a comparable salary down there I’m gone.
