Exactly.

I live in this place. These rich white folks want Charlie to recruit their fat, sorry ass kids and since they pay big money to texas he has to recruit and play these kids.

He can't recruit them miami kids like he could at Louisville. They not gonna allow that at texas. Tom herman not gonna have much success their either. This why mac brown stopped winning.

Everyone was mad at Mack for recruiting some terrible players but were "good kids" towards the end of his tenure. This had nothing to do with what the fan base wanted or our donors in regards to recruiting... thats bs :skip:

Charlie has brought in some GREAT players on both sides of the ball and has been praised for his evaluations.

Now if you are literally talking in terms of recruiting Florida vs recruiting Texas then my question is why would he recruit athletes that are 1k+ miles away when he can just recruit in his backyard that has a lot of great talent?

I pretty much disagree with what he's saying there. He can't recruit Miami kids? Yes he can. They just don't need to. Louisville needs to because the football talent in Kentucky is next to shyt. Louisville and West Virginia lived off South Florida talent.

Not to mention they could easily go out and get the California kids as well. Or even Louisiana. Mack Brown stopped winning because he got lazy and content. Did not really evaluate correctly either.

:stopitslime:Texas literally still living off that one Mack Brown-Vince Young championship year. Not much before and hardly anything after
Meh. Texas still was one of the winningest teams in college football, one of the teams that's been to the most bowls and the most bowl wins, one of the teams that had the most all americans. It's still very much a blue blood program with tons of talent in its backyard.

While true, he has been trash breh. After year 1, he promised they would never be that bad again and then went 5-7 and missed a bowl

Texas aint never really been the shyt they thought they was... until Mack Brown showed up and then found Vince....... that's why I don't get them pretending to be some storied program that's on the same level as Bama or OSU.....

Half of their ships are from an era where it was even more political than it is now...

I went to Texas and I agree with this. Before Mack Brown, we were mediocre since the late 70s. Just too many vultures in the state willing to play, while our alumni hold the type of kids and coaches to an impossible standard because they all feel like they need to be pleased with how the program runs. We walked that edge in basketball for a bit and it got us a lot of time in the top 10. Once they weren't willing anymore, Rick Barnes ended up fired. Interesting to see how Shaka does without even being able to play on the edge. He seems far more comfortable(and realistic) about the culture and that's why I think he will succeed.

I agree that its not a slam dunk IF Herman comes he wins big, but he has been in the program and understands the culture. He was a GA at Texas and got his masters degree at Texas. If anyone can do it, it would be him. He would inherent a lot of talent, and a lot of love/respect from the high school coaches. The high school coaches are a big part of the culture here. There's no loyalty in the way there is in other places like LSU. Texas is growing rapidly. Kids from all over the country coming into these suburban schools who want to go back and play where they grew up. You have to go through the coaches to overcome that sometimes. Strong skips that all together and goes at the parents. I like that better, but white Texas doesn't. It will keep him from ever truly having top 5 top classes.

Same thing happening in the pac 12 now as well

Bill Snyder da gawd the only guy who is one step ahead, but he has no offense.

thank you.

:mjlol: @ anyone suggesting strong shouldn't have taken the Texas job. Be scared of greatness brehs

He didn't achieve greatness. He achieved a payday. Clear distinction between the two.

Yeah Recruiting hasn't been the problem it's his coaching. He's been recruiting pretty solidly since he's been at Texas. And this last year did very well at the end getting a few of Baylors high recruits who transfered.

Texas has the advantage of being the only big 12 team who recruits real well and can get a lot of elite kids. OU doesn't even recruit great anymore.

The big 12 gets by far the least amount of top 300 kids. The few that do go to Texas

Native of the NYC, getting fed in the Big D!
Oh i know that but the seat is just too hot for a black man....Saban would get at least 5 yrs to get " his players" in place ...they been callin for his head from jump
This reminds me of Ty Willingham at Notre Dame. And he was putting together winning seasons.
Truth of the matter is, there are some schools too prestigious for a black coach to hold down without scrutiny :mjpls:
