I was hoping Reigns was gonna avoid signing the contract last night by saying "nobody comes out better from fighting you win or lose" and loosely or directly reference Rusev/Corbin.

It would have made much more sense for Cena to slowly start ethering Reigns more and more until he finally signed the contract either next week or the week after and let him own Cena on the physical side (or at least do the full lockerroom/security breakup).

Cena said he brought in "new talent" like AJ Styles and Kevin Owens...Cena taking credit as if those guys were brand new to pro wrestling, while there are actual new guys like Rusev and Corbin that he proceeded to bury. It's a bullshyt thing for Cena to say. He talking like he gave the midas touch to Styles and Owens, but where was that for Rusev and Corbin? Actual new talent.

Agreed. I don't like this as much as I thought I would simply because of how they're setting this up. The gap between Cena/Reigns on the mic is so large that it doesn't look like a competitive sparring match. The worked shoot aspect makes it 10 times worse and has been proven to really only work when both guys are capable of good to great mic work. This didn't make either of them look any better because it only reinforced everything we already knew about both of them.

Agreed 100%. Thought this was pretty silly.

2013 was the last time they were in the ring and that was a more serious tone feud as opposed to the 2011-2012 shyt. Much better vibe from the two and Rock was getting some good ones over him. Never liked their feud anyway. Was super silly and made zero sense other than getting to see two giants go at it.

Could never get into it from the sheer fact that you knew Cena was just a big ass Rock fan making his dream come true.

I disagree.

Some of the "all-time great" promo men got to that level by basically rehashing the same shyt week in and week out. Rock, Austin, Jake Roberts, Ric Flair ... the details varied a bit but the talking points generally remained the same outside of a few occasions. You gotta know what your guys do well and what they don't do well before you push them.

That said, Cena absolutely mollywhopped Roman Reigns and frankly, the best course of action for Roman would have been to lay Cena out just to show that words don't mean a damn thing if you're not going to whoop the nikka's ass at the end of the day. Similar to Batista's lead-in to WM 26 where he was like, "All you do is talk, Cena. Bark-bark-bark, that's what you do. That's NOT what I do. "
