Jay-z was c00ning for Barneys when they were profiling and harassing black customers.
And Beyonce was never down like that to begin with.
Carlos is right though. There does need to be more support for international artists in America. Especially those in Africa.
I forget the details, but in the "Sing Your Song" documentary about Harry Belafonte (a man who has done more for black people than arguably anyone in the last 50 years), didn't Belafonte record an album with African artists back in the day?

I was ridin' in the car with the homies and turned on some Fela Kuti and they collectively told me to, "Turn dat shyt off, nikka :what: :aicmon: :beli:"

This my car, hoes :takedat: :smugdraper:

You should have blasted that shyt and let them know what a real music vibe is about. "Water no get enemy" is in my top favorite songs of all time. That shyt makes you want to get up and dance.

Beyonce said she wished she was Latina.

Real role model for the young black girls that look up to her. Wonder why these chicks wearing weaves and bleaching skin.

Black American culture is more closely related to European culture than African. Not that it's their fault. But they typically cant appreciate African music unless it's some watered down version that's been integrated into rap or r&b somehow.

I know foreigners and even some black people like to low key dis black Americans for whatever reason, but your statement is not true at all. American culture is a mix of European and African if you look at without prejudice. That southern food people love so much is a mix of African and European foods and techniques. That music you love so much is a mix of European and African. The stylish way of dressing with colors is a mixture of European and African. Just because it isn't a direct shoot of African methods doesn't mean it isn't there. What you are doing is giving all the credit for the way things are done in the u.s.a. to whites and that is total bullshyt.

But I understand, a lot of people!e on here love to shyt on African Americans.

Define black American culture, in your own words, from your own perspective

From my perspective: It's just a branch of White American culture with a darker history (no pun intended). Black American have been through a lot and resent their white counterparts (rightfully so) because of their lack of recognition as one of the most significant contributors to what this country has become in terms of a financial and military super power.

But from an outsiders point of view, you take away that struggle and the racist aspect of American society, both black and white americans typically have the same mindset in general. Your music and your foods, your customs are more closely related to that of the British than it does any African.

Dont get me wrong, Caribbean blacks have the same issue due to our European slave masters. But listen to black Cuban folk music. Listen to Haitian folk music. Even Black Dominican folk music. The shyt SCREAMS AFRICAN, loud. I dont get that from American music. I see an extention of white American culture which in itself is an extension of British culture but with an African variant

Dont take this the wrong way, by the way. Just stating a point of view.

That is not what i mean at all. Please see my statement above for the rest of my explanation

Well Santana should be talking to people like Wale and other 1st generation African rappers. Instead of calling out Jay-Z.
