I JUST saw this this afternoon and I was disappointed. I thought this character was too overpowered to the point where nothing seemed like a challenge. maybe I'm missing out on her history, but I thought this was one of the weaker marvel films to be honest.

Carol spends nearly 75% of the film letting people control her. She obeys Jude Law's character without question. She pleads with the Supreme Intelligence to let her prove herself and agrees with that they gave her power and she blindly accepts that they can take it away if she doesn't do well. She even believes that the Skulls messed with her head and implanted memories. This movie isn't about her fighting an external enemy, it's about her discovering her own agency and that her power is hers not someone else's. I don't understand the argument that there was no character development or that she was over-powered when it takes her the entire movie to realize how powerful she truly is. It just feels like a complaint from someone who is uncomfortable with seeing a woman having that kind of power and owning it. You probably were really digging it when Jude Law's character was throwing her around and punching her in the face, huh?

Need to thank him for his contributions too:mjgrin:

I've spent more money on Marvel (and DC) than you have :mjlol: I just don't wait around for people like @42 Monks to show up and attack them because they didn't like a movie in the series.

Point blank, MCU has very good movies. They have trash movies. They have some in the middle. But to you they can do no wrong and that is why I make fun of people and also why you constantly quote me in these threads looking for validation :mjlol:

The op arguement I totally understand. She didnt have a legit fight the entire movie, it was just a showcase of her powers.

Superman is lame but they at least respect the spectacle and have him lightly job to make fights entertaining. This movie aint have a legit villian so it mostly boiled down to carol blasting mooks

Didn't like how they portrayed the relationship between Monica Rambeau and Carol Danvers. Those characters don't have much history, now Carol is supposedly Monica's hero and best friend? I is Monica going to be Carol's sidekick?

You know how much I spent on Marvel and DC?
:duck:

And cool your opinion is your opinion.... :manny:

I don’t know your “scale” you judge the movies by but it’s clearly different from mine and quite a few.

Even though the MCU (and DCU) is the MCU. They still “to me fall” in the realm of comic book movies so I tend to put them on an “overall scale” and not a separate a “dedicated only MCU/DCU” scale.

With that said to me trash movies are Catwoman, Steel, F4 reboot, Elektra, Spidey 3, Wanted... just to name a few. This movie and even some of the worst DCU movies are no where near as bad as those and to me it’s just an injustice to even put the movies cats love to call trash in that category.... but again I guess my scale is different :hubie:

Also constantly quoting you? This like my first time quoting you in a few pages and atleast since 2 Friday’s or Thursday’s or so.... responding to YOU quoting ME (like I’m doing now).

I just went back through this thread this week via my cell and ain’t seen me say anything to you? Maybe I need to view it on my MacBook but I don’t see shyt:wtf:

Matter fact YOU quoted me last just earlier today in that post to my cousin to which I didn’t even reply back too:mjlol: the hell?:mindblown:

You gotta stop

What are you rambling about :dahell: .. you always in these threads quoting me so yeah I'll reply. yes, I have a "scale" you could call it. If I leave the theater saying "I don't ever wanna see that again" then to me that's trash. Now, I'll give a movie a second chance every now and then but it's rare that I'm gonna like it much more the second time around.

Captain Marvel ain't "trash" I already said what I liked about it.

I don't feel the need to say Thor The Dark World or whatever is "better" than Fantastic Four from a couple years ago, to me it doesn't matter because I'm not going to watch either of them again.

It ain't wasting money either.. I've put plenty of money into Disney pockets, WB pockets, Universal Studios etc. More often than not I'm enjoying what I choose to watch. :manny:

I was with you 100% until you got to this part, it only applies to a miniscule number of people on this board.

The greater issue, as I and others have pointed out, is that people seem incapable of grasping the virtues of an internal vs external struggle. The physical enemies just served as an extension of the internal pressures placed on Carol and once she defeats the mental conditioning, the physical foes become inconsequential. The entire film was her putting herself together, consigning the past with the present.

In Endgame and her sequel, we'll get to see her actually contend with a complete Captain Marvel.
