CW didn't have 8 scenes of action in total so why is BvS held to a different standard.

We have

Opening cinematic
BP Chase scene
Airport
Final fight

both movies are like 150 minutes with roughly the same amount of action, equally hokey in places plots, one has much better actors, yet one is like 30% on RT and one is like 90 iirc %

somethings not adding up
Bruh I know you know I didn't mean literally 8. Just talking about the length and frequency

Opening scene. Then a talk about what they did wrong. Bucky fight. Then a talk. Bucky escape fight. Then talk. Airport fight which was about the length of the bvs fight. Talk. Final fight which again was long. End

Now I'm not about to go record lengths and frequency of fights. But I can assure you that cap had about double the length worth of action scenes.

They realize one thing. Casuals and kids don't want to sit through extended talking. My son is 5. He loves comic characters. He won't sit through 10 mins of talking. He won't blink if they fighting.

Realize they not making these for us grown ass men COMPLETELY. There are people taking their kids. Women going with their man who dragged them. People who just want to see some action flick since they basically don't even make them anymore.

Everyone isn't trying to hear the political and sociological aspects of why superman and Lex are at odds. They want to see batman kick some ass and wonderman in her suit doing some shyt.

Tell me what got the biggest rise of people in your theater? Bet a million it was when WW finally showed up in her suit right? Cause people just want to see some damn action

The action in Bats V Supes was wack in comparison to CW. And I think the Batman v Supes fight is like 4 minutes long. Airport scene and final fight in Civil War were both in the 15 - 20 minute range. I'm pretty sure CW had more action.
If you think the movies are comparable that's just a minority opinion which is completely fine. There's is just no equation that needs to be added up to since it is aggregates of personal opinions.

Believe the standard hollywood action plot structure makes every action movie the same critically brehs.

I get that and thats why i went to see bvs by myself and saw cw with my girl. I just that in the forum dedicated to films we could some in depth discussion on why people applauded this one instead of BvS when they have a incredibly similar plot. Is it the stark contrast in tone? Because I have to say the acting was better in BvS and also the score, these things are pretty undisputable imo. So that leaves action to be the determining factor but the action or lack thereof in BvS that much inferior to have one being universally liked and one be panned? I'm just trying to get some actual reasons why this movie is so celebrated other than "hurr durr its a comic book movie"

what i can tell, from forums, people who've seen it, reviews, etc.. it's 90% the action, 10% the tone... 100% how they chose to take the movie

marvel movies are mindless fun... it's not too deep.. it doesn't take it self too serious.. they blow up entire cities and 47 people die.. everybody lives... everybody is cool... everybody wins

batman tried to make a real movie... see how you point to the acting, score, plot... in a comic book movie... nobody really cares.. again, we learned this from watchmen. most of the bad things i heard was.... not enough action, takes itself too serious, not fun, not a lot of jokes, drags on, too convoluted a plot, should have been more bats vs sups.

is that a problem in the shining or there will be blood or something like that.. hell no.. for a movie about comic book characters that you grew up on... people just want to get to the action and action and action.

i'll give you another one... the new james bond series.. a lot of people liked them... but most people shytted on them.. why? "where's the gadgets and cool stuff"

people have their vision of these franchises and don't want anyone fukking up the program.. no matter how good the actual movie is, they fix their minds that they are seeing a certain type of movie, that movie had better have a,b and c in it

The article I posted from Collider sheds some light on it but ultimately it's execution. At least for me. Civil War seems to be a better executed flick and a more confident flick plus its easier to buy into the stakes, be they emotional or physical, because these are characters you have 8 years of history with

Finally a thought out concise reply with some tangible opinions. Repped and dapped for this. I guess I got wrapped up these being more than mindless comic shyt with the stance they took on the batman movies and still come in looking for more than the surface.

Gotta take umbrage with that. I'd say there are more people who like the latest bond flicks than dislike just going on the strength of box office and critical acclaim. Not saying those are the only metrics that count but they're the only metrics we can actually pull.

1 Skyfall Sony $304,360,277 3,526 $88,364,714 3,505 11/9/12
2 Spectre Sony $200,074,609 3,929 $70,403,148 3,929 11/6/15
3 Quantum of Solace Sony $168,368,427 3,501 $67,528,882 3,451 11/14/08
4 Casino Royale Sony $167,445,960 3,443 $40,833,156 3,434 11/17/06

the best of the new series, casino royale... made the least amount of money... why? people hated all the movie and cards and acting and shyt.... and was like "where's the gadgets and 007 sneaky spy shyt"

as the series went on, and that stuff got added on, the ratings for how good the movie was went down.... but the money nearly doubled

the masses... not so much people who dig into movies and appreciate the other parts of it... but the masses usually just want mindless action, cool effects, and plain and simple writing

Completely disagree with that. Casino royale made the least amount because it came after die another day and because people weren't sure about Craig. But it's also the most critically acclaimed next to skyfall. Quantum of solace made a lot of money because if followed casino royale not because of how great it is. Skyfall had the hype and the strong word of mouth along with it being the anniversary. And spectre followed skyfall.

Casino royale was a gamble but even on this board it's hard to find someone who dislikes it. It's not about people disliking the card scenes or the character stuff and more about people not being sure what they were getting at the time.
