:pacspit: fukk Sony we could of had a trilogy of goat spiderman movies plus have him being apart of the civil war and the gawds were willing to compromise with you hoes by retaining creative control, marketing, and distribution rights and you still decline. I hope those struggleman movies you have lined up flop like a big sean album. You deserve everything thats coming to you.
They'll keep trying too. That's the worst part.

Breh you do realize that Sony was still going to have creative control over the movies right? Jus marvel produced so if you don't like the movies now what makes you think you'd like them then? Lol and don't be mad at companies for doing business. The deal fell through so for all we know it could've fell through on marvel's end. Who knows? It would've been dope to see but maybe it still will. Plus that animated spider man flick sounds interesting

The last two Spiderman movies showed how badly out of their depth they were. I mean they proposed an Aunt May movie. :rudy: They need a proper box office humiliation to finally get the message, though. To the point where they have to look at an email with Spiderman box officce numbers, that just has a gif of a tumbleweed rolling across the screen before they understand they're not that good at it.

The aunt may movie was a rumor so chill. Let's not believe every damn thing on the net. The problem with the movies are the producers behind the scenes having one vision and the director and writers having another. The marvel movies have the same issue but Feige normally steers those movies in the right direction even with their shortcomings because it's still one vision leading toward one goal. But there are multiple reports (from actual sources not rumors) including the freaking composer that there's too many control issues with the movies and the producers have too much power

I'm inclined to believe it because it's the kind of fukkery that, if people had been into it - they would have run with. They're at the point where they need something to stick. Plus looking at joints like 'Agent Carter' and 'Gotham' - there's a market for prequels and female led stories. The execs probably thought 'Why not try and do both at the same damn time?'

I'm inclined not to believe it because it doesn't ring true with anything else they've done or actually proposed. The spider woman thing makes sense. Or spider girl whichever character. The sinister six thing makes sense and could be a lot of fun. Even the animated spider man flick sounds like it could be a good look and be better than ultimate spider man but the aunit may idea sounds like something someone on a lot thought of and just threw it to a reporter and the reporter ran with it. The studio has already denied it and said it ain't happening tho. Here's the way to "fix" spider man: make a great spider man movie. That's it. Don't worry about a universe or spin offs just focus on Peter Parker

They're looking at that money Marvel is gonna make off an expanded universe like :mjcry:

I do agree with you though in that they should concentrate on making a decent Spiderman movie. They've failed with the last three attempts - somewhere the brass has got to be :sadcam:

And the idea for an Aunt May movie strikes me as something someone would propose to break the awkward silence in the room. One of the execs tired of failure would have said ":ehh: Put some feelers out" and that's that.

The only way to find out for sure is through emails in that North Korea :troll:hack job.

Well we disagree on them being failures but I'm also not one to be blind to public opinion and I know the movies haven't been big deals to the public and they've underperformed at the box office so creatively something needs to change and if the producers are the consistent thing in the last 3 movies, specifically their control of the movies, then that's the thing that needs to change. They're not just looking at what marvel is doing, they're doing what all studios do all the time with everything: Copycat. That's hollywood breh, it's a superstitious place where if one thing works for one man, it should work for everyone. Every damn studio is copying the format because that's what hollywood does and it's annoying as hell.

Agree with the sentiment wholeheartedly.

Re Spiderman: I guess it boils down to the single fact that they tried to start a new franchise with that struggle version of the 'Great Power/Great Responsibilty' speech. It was like Kevin Costner being a fukking dikk in the Superman movie. I get the idea that they want to differentiate themselves from previous incarnations, but it's always cosmetic changes and often changes in the wrong places.

But that speech was NEVER in a single comic book breh. In fact, the version that's in the movie, is exactly what's in the ultimate spider-man comic. I forget which issue but it's an early one in Bendis' run and he had Ben tell Peter that his dad said "if you have the power then it's your responsibility...etc" so it's not some cosmetic change for the sake of change, it's inspired from the set of books that was their main source of inspiration for the movie. Ben is never seen saying "With great power there must also come great responsibility" in any issue of amazing spider-man. Pete says it at the end of Amazing Fantasy and attributes it to Ben and we all got incepted into thinking Ben said it in a comic. So to me, it wasn't something done for the wrong reasons, it was done to demonstrate the effect Peter's dad had on his life and is still having on his life because those two movies, especially the first, are really about loss and Pete trying to find himself while looking for the dad who left him, which is also a big part of ultimate spider-man

:ohhh:

You learn something new everyday. There's a gravitas to 'With Great Power...' though - I guess that's why it became cannon. The speech adapted for the new movies, felt like it was trying to get the same point across but without using the exact same words in the same order

Never fukked with Ultimate Spiderman, really - I was caught up in Millar's run on The Ultimates.

Personally I'm ready to see a slightly older and established Spider-man, married to MJ, working at The Bugle and in control of his powers. If they do another origin story reboot :mjcry:

I'd love to see that too but I think they'll probably just go with him dealing with the thought of moving on after Gwen which I want to see more than him being with someone. In the comics, MJ was already around when Gwen died and they were all friends. In fact, he dated MJ before Gwen so it was feasible that he could go back to her if something happened. But now, they haven't established any other female in his life so it would be interesting to see how he goes about dealing with her death, wondering what he should do and if it's even right to do it. And Pete being Pete, he'll feel guilty about it either way until he eventually gets over it.

And it's always been canon breh but Ben physically saying it is more attributed to cartoons and just Pete retelling the story all the time but he was never seen saying it in the comic. Ever. I think the 94 animated series may be the first instance of him saying it. And yeah it was trying to get the point across without using the same words which is what Bendis did in ultimate since it's the same thing verbatim and damn near the same scene verbatim. You should give ultimate a chance breh, you may enjoy it. Miles is a dope character and it may be fun for you to get in the story now

Breh i dont give a shyt, none of that money going in my pockets

Downey is corny as fukk

That last Cap movie was a damn near classic and unlike Downey,Evans is actually believable as a superhero

Instead of forcing Downey into every movie they should be making Cap their lead superhero instead of wack ass ironman

I read maybe the first 8 on a random and enjoyed it. I felt it was my duty - especially given that the notion of Black Spiderman made nerds so mad.

#BlackRadioactiveSpiderBiteExcellence :blessed:

I'll get over it eventually I guess, although Garfield's Spider-Man is an absolute dikk. Gwen's dad told you stay the fukk away from her with his dying breath and he goes right back to find her. And then he ends up being responsible for her death :stopitslime:

And he needs to stop taking off his mask in front of people every five minutes too
