Trae’s size and wingspan is a problem for me. While he is great shooter and a decent passer, that’s pretty much it and he will forever be a defensive liability. I find doncic size more ideal and he can play multiple positions on the floor. Everything else, including his jumper which is actually not that bad, will be worked on by one of best coaches in the league. I probably will say he’s a much better scorer than a shooter from what I’ve seen at this point in his career. But I’d rather have him than Trae Young.

The pick getting worse as the years go by is under the assumption the mavs will have what it takes to compete in the west. Dennis and luka plus some free agent overpays is not a bright future. That might be passable in the east but not the west.

How is he "far better"? Trae has an NBA jumper and 3 pointer already...Doncic himself has admitted he doesn't have an NBA jumpshot and that's something he needs to work on. They're both average athletically. Both are considered the top 2 passers in this draft. Outside of Doncic being 5-6 inches taller how is he "far better"?

Doncic being 6 inches taller and at least 60 pounds isn't some minor difference


Allows him to see and make passes Trae can't as well as take smaller guys into the post. Trae struggled with making the correct passes when help came. Doncic is also a plus rebounder.

Trae is the better shooter and more creative ballhandler.

I think its more likely Doncic improves as a shooter than it is Trae finds a way to compensate for his lack of size/burst though I think both will at the least be rotational guys.

He has no physical advantages breh. Doncic is at least tall and strong.

Average height, short arms, lacks quick twitch athleticism.

He is going to have to be an elite shooter, use screens on and off ball, develop footwork in the paint like a Nash or Tony Parker and have a sick handle.

Not impossible but I think its a larger task than Doncic improving as a shooter.
