Can we talk about how the Atlanta Hawks finessed the fukk out the Mavs, all over a Euro?

The pick getting worse as the years go by is under the assumption the mavs will have what it takes to compete in the west. Dennis and luka plus some free agent overpays is not a bright future. That might be passable in the east but not the west.

Y'all wont be able to add anymore foundational pieces through the draft. Its never good when u miss the playoffs and you dont even have your pick.:heh:
It’s like you didn’t read thoroughly before you responded. I like that you skipped the cap space part of my comment which dallas has and can certainly add pieces. Dallas historically under the Cuban years does not like the draft as it is to rebuild. They just simply had no choice the last two years. So I don’t think they care that you will be picking 6th or below over the next few years.

Seems like you are also assuming that Dennis/luka/and free agents won’t help the Mavs improve in the coming years. Dallas will be fine.

How is he "far better"? Trae has an NBA jumper and 3 pointer already...Doncic himself has admitted he doesn't have an NBA jumpshot and that's something he needs to work on. They're both average athletically. Both are considered the top 2 passers in this draft. Outside of Doncic being 5-6 inches taller how is he "far better"?
Trae’s size and wingspan is a problem for me. While he is great shooter and a decent passer, that’s pretty much it and he will forever be a defensive liability. I find doncic size more ideal and he can play multiple positions on the floor. Everything else, including his jumper which is actually not that bad, will be worked on by one of best coaches in the league. I probably will say he’s a much better scorer than a shooter from what I’ve seen at this point in his career. But I’d rather have him than Trae Young.

Young is a great passer not decent. He led the country in assist with scrubs :usure:

what good is Doncic size if he's not athletic

You say this like Doncic projects to be a plus defender. Doncic isn't a stellar athlete either...I get that you prefer Doncic but saying he's "far better" than Trae is a stretch IMO

I mean my point went way over your head.

In 2019, since the draft is weak, most Mavs fans won’t care if you are picking 9th in the draft. If you don’t want that pick and the Mavs improve in the coming years, with their large cap space and doncic shows he is the real deal, than your pick gets even worse as the years go by.

The Mavs ain't making the playoffs no time soon bruh :russ:

Who out west they going to leapfrog in the foreseeable future? Doncic 15-16 points per game won't be enough :mjlol:

It seems more like they decided to give up that pick for salary cap reasons.

Initially Atlanta wanted to swap Bazemore for Wes Matthews but Dallas didn't want the extra year of salary.

It's a sign that they're looking to win sooner rather than later, valuing cap space over future picks.

Im not mad at Dallas. If youre picking in the top 5 and youre a franchise like Dallas that is swinging on FAs and trying to win, you try to get the guy that has the most star potential. Even most guys in the top 5 end up being the Tristan Thompson's of the league. Doncic COULD be a star, and if he is, thats way more valuable than say, another #11 pick next year.
