I think they can both be semi big acts with huge followings like a lot of Hip Hop acts today

If were being completely honest JID has the problem over being way too wordy to the point where his focus on lyrics seems to make him neglect other great aspects of a song. So hes kind of stuck in that lyrical miracle rapper label and when he tries to step out of it the songs just sound forced or unfinished.

Earthgang is really talented but dont really have a sound that they really stuck to. You hear a song like liquor sto which I love, but then the rest of the album has songs close but not really at the quality of it and it shows in views/popularity of other songs. You go and listen to another project and they are almost going in a different direction. They just dont have the consistency of having those standout songs to breakout. Their projects are cool but id be lying if I said I go back to any of their songs besides the main one I mentioned. They dont seem like they have found their sound despite projects having decent cohesion for the most part.

It’s always been hard for these type of artist to be superstars

Social media hasn’t changed anything
They can be superstars despite that but neither of them have strong enough music to garner attention to reach that next level. Jid is mostly known for just spazzing out of songs but that only goes so far when the rest of the song is lacking in certain areas.

I like both but neither will be superstars or household names. They are niche artists with strong fanbases. And theres nothing wrong with that at all. They sell out midsize clubs and put out solid music. Everyone ain't gonna break thru to the next level. Same thing happened with the whole Beast Coast/Pro Era camp.

Stay in your lane

They got the gift and the curse of being a part of the last generation of the underground internet/pre-streaming era. Their last projects before really popping off(Para Tu and Shallow Graves for Toys) had a real sound to them, but getting signed comes with this preconceived stipulation that you're supposed to do something different than what got you there, which is what they've been trying for years now
