They’re dope I just listened to some of their stuff. From what I can tell, they aren’t the loud, trolling type so I don’t think they can be superstars.

The culture is all messed up now cause of social media, non blacks & other factors. Unless you’re drake or talking about some destructive shyt you won’t reach superstar status at this moment

It’s always been hard for these type of artist to be superstars

Social media hasn’t changed anything

You said its hard for these type of artists to be superstars. I was asking you which artists, past or present, have had this problem.
Throughout the history of rap

Gotchu. Was looking for artists to compare but I agree nonetheless. If anything, artists like Earthgang or JID have a lot more exposure and will be received by a lot more people because of social media in comparison to acts that came before them.

:stopitslime: wrong, wrong, and wrong. Cole has talked about this a lot. I mean A LOT. Which is why again i think he signed JID for the similiarities.

J. Cole: I Wanted to Sign Kendrick Lamar

Cole was introduced to the Compton MC in 2010 before either rapper had released their debut albums. “I met Kendrick at a time when all I had out was The Warm Up, nobody knew who he was, he didn’t have a deal,” he said. “He was signed to Top [Dawg]—I didn’t know he was signed to Top.”

But he immediately knew that K-Dot was a star. “I actually wanted to sign him, but I didn’t have my business right. I didn’t know he was with Top [Dawg],” explained Cole. “But in my mind, he was the first person I ever found. … I remember tellin’ everybody like, ‘Yo, I’m tryna sign this kid. Like yo, this ni**a’s nasty!'”

He even helped put Dr. Dre on to him. “When I was in the studio with Dre I had to tell Dre like, ‘Yo, you ain’t never heard of Kendrick?’

For a dude whose biggest hit called Humble, Kendrick really don’t shout out peers who helped him along the way huh?

What did I say that was wrong? I said Kendrick was buzzing heavy before Cole dropped his debut Sideline Story, or had any kind of label deal. I never said they didnt have a relationship.

So basically Cole thought Kendrick was dope but clearly didnt have any kind of leverage to offer him anything close to a deal.

Saying he wished he signed him when he didnt have the means too is like someone saying I wanted to buy $100k in Bitcoin 3 years ago when they were dead broke.

JiD will since his cosign game is strong as fukk right now and i'm sure his feature game is about to explode into 2020.

EG is trippy and has to manuever correctly. GA duos usually thrive but outside of Outkast it's tough to get traction for the long game.
