I used a reality tv show because you've obviously never jumped off the porch to see the real world. Cops are human beings. Growing up I've seen all manner of scumbags get "favors" for complying.

I've seen a murderer who shot his own brother allowed to plea down to manslaughter and only get 10 years just for complying.

Am I justifying this, no, but life is more complicated than your ideal world absolutist ideology. If you make their job easier, cops will return the favor.
