Maybe cuz he was exclusively shytting on some of New Yorks “greats” that of course ppl from New York would have a bias .. y’all can’t be that dumb to not understand that right?
We didn’t look at 2pac as the GOAT even before he did that. His music is cool but we never really got people who treated his music as so much better then everyone else

And as far as that type of bias lets not act like there aren’t a ton of Pac fans who are so emotionally invested in him that to this day they refuse to listen to anyone he had beef with

Its funny I never really thought about it. But X is closer to Pac than people really think. X has multiple songs that are in the pantheon of greatest hip hop songs of all time.

Even on a music level can you really say that Pac had songs like this? People love Pac because he encompassed it all. He was a star all across the board, the music, the look, the backstory, the drama etc. But if we going song for song Pac's discography barely holds against X. Like X may actually smoke this nikka in a verzuz

You can't be familiar with Pac's catalog posting them songs.

So Many Tears and Me Against The World >>>>>>> Slippin (Slippin is still classic)

Hail Mary >>>>>> Stop Bein Greedy

Ambitionz Az A Ridah>>>>>> Ruff Ryder Anthem

California Love>>>>> Who We Be

Of course you wasn’t looking at him as the goat yet he didn’t put out his best music yet tf? Lol

And if somebody is that emotionally invested they’re just weird but tbh that’s the same vibes you old head new Yorkers give off

He released MATW before hit em up which you can argue was his best work

Anyway Pac having the best catalog or being the best mc is not an opinion everyone has but you seem to think that should be a unified opinion lol

Seems like the same ole argument that happens with Pac and any other top 5 rapper. Others may be “better” at rapping but dont have the songs to compete with Pac. Pac would wash DMX in a versus and im not sure it would be close.

NY nikkas preferring one of their own to pac

Especially former bad boy and roc a fella affiliates

Who would've guessed :comeon:
I’m completely unbiased and I was around for both of their entire career arch from beginning to end.

We didn’t even consider 2Pac a great rapper, it was about more than rapping ability with him.

I never once heard a Pac bar that made me go “wait rewind that”

It was very elementary but I also think it was intentional because he wasn’t on a mission to baffle nikkas with his rhyming ability, he wanted nikkas to feel him.

He could when he wanted to though

That might sound crazy if you grew up a few years later and think Jeezy is a great rapper, it just is what it is.

The bar was way higher back then.

X on the other hand, his barking growling and shyt might just have distracted from how NICE that nikka really was.

Yeah im calling :duck:that this was commonly said . maybe in your circle of BIG glazers but not many

Biggie(your deity) is known for having that infamous rapper rating interview and said Pac got busy on the lyrics. pointing that Pacs only weakness is his beats

^^^^ and many people who "were around" say this, Pacs weakness was his beats, critics of him critiqued his production. Some of those who had other issues with him and really attacked his lyrical content and music harshly did so with mostly a bias against West coast rap anyways (Billboard, and Robert Christgau for example)
Pac was respected for his rapping. and when he got his production up(MATW -till his death) it was all up from there for him

And you mention The Source, yet in the source review of MATW, the person who reviewed him praised his lyricism. calling him even a elite lyricist.

Those who did call him below avg were entities( mainly east coast critics, personalities, etc ) who did so after Pac/Bigs death. To big up Big and down pac in the debate that sprung from their beef and death.

And its only been happening from the same region(east) more so after their death. Given how Pac eclipsed and still does eclipse Biggie in impact, sales, and legacy and GOAT status with him being seen and is better than Big. As well as being crowned by many as the GOAT over others like nas, jay, etc. That them nikkas want to keep saying "he was a below avg rapper"

just like you nikkas have had this thread go on for 9 pages, and none of yall proven with solid verses, lyrical examples of how X is better or a better lyricist and rapper

:snoop:

all you pac heads ever do is refer to biggie , badboy & east coast beef … I am referring to prior of that timeframe where the overall conclusion by writers , editors ,DJs, and any other hip-hop personality was he was nothing more than a mediocre or average MC

which automatically kills this bullshyt narrative of those individuals having some type of Eastcoast bias because as I said his early or beginning timeframe, he was pretty much was rapper from no coast , side or region

I gotta respectfully disagree, Mase body that song, and his verse is considered the best off that track by the overall massive
Mase killed it too, not mad at that take he had the best verse. I think the general consensus is X killed it the most that's why he closed it out. I think it was "Holy shyt, I ain't no Mase could rap like that" reaction because a lot of people was used to shiney suit Mase and wasn't aware of his background. Remember this was out years before his album, and back then whoever had the best verse either opened or closed out the song more times than not.
