you dont know what you are talking aboutdmx def has an "MC" type of vibe in some of his music but he isn't a great lyricist at all - not even close.

4321Life Of An Outlaw
Tradin War Stories
And plenty others too
Pac got songs with The Outlawz that could rival tracks with X Hov Beans and LOX all on the same record
Where are you from? Where is kane from?DMX shined most in freestyles and posse cuts when he would spaz the fukk out lyrically. Me and @Cladyclad have said this before, but there's a certain type of MCing that X did that Pac didn't when it came to rapping. X was a battle MC at heart, that showed skill in a different capacity. Even when Pac got lyrical, it wasn't in the same MCing type of way that X did. X was a rappers rapper. All the MCs say the same thing. Even Kane said it on Drink Champs.
Wouldn’t be no AEOM, Thug Life, MATW without RTD.
Songs like this only exist because Ballerina P got to hear music from Biggie’s unfinished album. Ask Easy Mo Bee.
Yeah im calling that this was commonly said . maybe in your circle of BIG glazers but not many
Biggie(your deity) is known for having that infamous rapper rating interview and said Pac got busy on the lyrics. pointing that Pacs only weakness is his beats
^^^^ and many people who "were around" say this, Pacs weakness was his beats, critics of him critiqued his production. Some of those who had other issues with him and really attacked his lyrical content and music harshly did so with mostly a bias against West coast rap anyways (Billboard, and Robert Christgau for example)
Pac was respected for his rapping. and when he got his production up(MATW -till his death) it was all up from there for him
And you mention The Source, yet in the source review of MATW, the person who reviewed him praised his lyricism. calling him even a elite lyricist.
Those who did call him below avg were entities( mainly east coast critics, personalities, etc ) who did so after Pac/Bigs death. To big up Big and down pac in the debate that sprung from their beef and death.
And its only been happening from the same region(east) more so after their death. Given how Pac eclipsed and still does eclipse Biggie in impact, sales, and legacy and GOAT status with him being seen and is better than Big. As well as being crowned by many as the GOAT over others like nas, jay, etc. That them nikkas want to keep saying "he was a below avg rapper"
just like you nikkas have had this thread go on for 9 pages, and none of yall proven with solid verses, lyrical examples of how X is better or a better lyricist and rapper
Ready to die= east coast Chronic
Life after death= east coast All Eyez on Me
Puff has a formula for Biggie. Take a popular west coast album and add an east coast twist to it.
Puff will tell you that himself. Chronic was his biggest inspiration when putting together Ready to Die. And I never said it took away from his greatnessThis is just wrong
Sure there are elements there but there is influence from a lot of sounds and rappers on those albums and from BIG
The greats all study each other
It’s known that Pac was a huge Nas fan and heavily influenced by It was Written
He got the idea of Me and My Girlfriend from I gave you power
Does that take away from his greatness to you then?
its no about random cyphers lolIt's all preference. Personally Pac has more songs that I bump regularly than X.
But when New Yorkers talk about who is better lyrically what they really mean subconsciously is who would they pick in a random cipher. And of course that's always gonna be X.
This is what I've been trying to convey and you put it better than me. That's all we're really saying. Pac is a very dope rapper, but if you just was outside and cyphering on the corner and Pac and X rapped, you would come away more impressed with X just on some raw MCing shyt. X got his name from battling, and freestyling on corners, etc...he was just more of a natural MC.It's all preference. Personally Pac has more songs that I bump regularly than X.

This ….. pac had way more range even more than x …dmx hated the comparison between him and pac you could tell by his interviews etc he would get visibly irritated that’s why he tryed to distance himself from anything pac related but it was to hard to ignore …. They rap totally different but as far as everything else I.e the bald head , shirtless a lot of the time , bandana sometimes , similar stature , tattoos all over and that same “ I don’t give a fukk attitude “ x was the closest thing to pac in the rap game … x definitely was influenced by pac in some way in my opinion…Pac was one of the first rappers to be vulnerable on a track. Pac's life was an open book because he made it that way in his music.
Pac was one of the 1st rappers to do that. To say X has more range is crazy.
Everyone took something from Pac after he died including DMX.
Its funny I never really thought about it. But X is closer to Pac than people really think. X has multiple songs that are in the pantheon of greatest hip hop songs of all time.
Even on a music level can you really say that Pac had songs like this? People love Pac because he encompassed it all. He was a star all across the board, the music, the look, the backstory, the drama etc. But if we going song for song Pac's discography barely holds against X. Like X may actually smoke this nikka in a verzuz
