Its funny I never really thought about it. But X is closer to Pac than people really think. X has multiple songs that are in the pantheon of greatest hip hop songs of all time.

Even on a music level can you really say that Pac had songs like this? People love Pac because he encompassed it all. He was a star all across the board, the music, the look, the backstory, the drama etc. But if we going song for song Pac's discography barely holds against X. Like X may actually smoke this nikka in a verzuz

Pacs career was only 5 years vs dmx 20 + so take that into consideration….song for song pac has way more classsics and more timeless songs under his belt I don’t know what your talkin about …

Man x didn’t even smoke snoop dog cut it out

Snoop may smoke Pac in a Verzuz :manny: .

Despite everyone loving Pac are we really gonna say its the songs that caused the pandemonium? Or was it the Drama surronding him?

Was it really Brenda's Got a Baby, I get around and Califorina love that make Pac so legendary? Even songs like Pain and Shed so Many Tears, White Mans World etc. X has songs on that level and beyond on a emotional and song quality level.

They are closer than what people think. If you remove the controversy around Pac and look at it strictly from a music level you cant argue.

I honestly cant even think of many Pac songs that are on the level of slippin. Im thinking prolly changes. But imo that song is on the same level of a slippin at the bare minimum not better

X has songs that people are gonna play for the rest of their life. Pac been gone for decades but as per usual we talk more about the drama around him than the actual music.

Yea Keefe D interviews bang off but are people really still playing Pac music outside like that? The answer is NO.

This is what I've been trying to convey and you put it better than me. That's all we're really saying. Pac is a very dope rapper, but if you just was outside and cyphering on the corner and Pac and X rapped, you would come away more impressed with X just on some raw MCing shyt. X got his name from battling, and freestyling on corners, etc...he was just more of a natural MC.
Yeah strictly lyrics then x has that edge as far as songs and even albums pac has way more that are timeless classics in his 5 year career vs dmx 20 + fresh ….

When you say peer do you mean popularity? Because Jay had Big on his first album, Pac dissed Jay multiple times. Jay was not some nobody. He had a name in the industry in the mid 90s. He was a gold artist off his first album and a platinum artist by 1997.

He wasn't as big as them from 95-97 but he was a somebody then.

You act like Snoop is chump. Snoop's catalog off Doggystyle and the Chronic alone is damn near impossible to beat without an elite elite discog.
You seemed to miss the post I quoted you on.. where you from? Where Kane from?

Like I said previously I can seee why dmx for years distanced himself from anything pac related maybe out of people saying he was copying pac etc but like I said aside from there actul rap styles since they rap totally different they had some major similarities that was to hard to ignore and back then everyone was looking for the “next pac “ since he left that void after he passed .. it’s was only recently before x passed was he asked about the pac comparison etc n gave a huge respectful answer….but when he first came out he was irritated by it ….

I can't say I was only in NY and would visit family in Virginia and DC mostly during that era and they all knew who Jay-Z was.

This ….. pac had way more range even more than x …dmx hated the comparison between him and pac you could tell by his interviews etc he would get visibly irritated that’s why he tryed to distance himself from anything pac related but it was to hard to ignore …. They rap totally different but as far as everything else I.e the bald head , shirtless a lot of the time , bandana sometimes , similar stature , tattoos all over and that same “ I don’t give a fukk attitude “ x was the closest thing to pac in the rap game … x definitely was influenced by pac in some way in my opinion…

Christ not everyone looked up to Pac and wanted to be him especially if you were his age or older.

DMX had that I don’t give a fukk style since dropping demos in the late 80’s early 90’s.

He was in and out of juvenile detention centers/prisons as a teenager while Pac was doing ballet dancing I can assure you X didn’t take Pacs style or attitude lol
