I saw Cam @ Eastland mall around when come home with me dropped. I damn near walked past him. They looked like a bunch of regular dudes back then. You could tell they weren't wealthy at that point.
Cam'ron never was a "star" until oh boy. Then the diplomat shyt took off and was iconic

But around the time you met him he was just the man in Harlem. He did the remix with pimp c and Luda and they was helping him out by doing that. In between come home with me and diplomatic Immunity you started seeing him coming through the hood in Lamborghinis and shyt

I'd say Hey Ma took him to the next level.

But I agree. Oh boy changed his trajectory.

Above the fray.
If Low End Theory sold 1.5 million, that had to have been years after it came out.......and I mean at least 5 years afterward.
ATCQ was a great group, and they were on a good rap label. They made 2 legit classic albums and toured forever off that.

I call BS on some of the numbers cited about what modern rappers get per show, and I don't see any of these guys being able to do shows 3 years from now on their catalog...much less 10-20 years.

There was a salt n pepa thread recently, I'd guess that their current 90s tour has them making more per night than any non mainstream success current rapper...and this is based on songs made 20 years ago.

Wrong. Low End Theory went Gold in 1992 and Platinum Feb 1995

Midnight Marauders went Platinum January 1995, a year and 2 months after it was released.

And these modern rappers who aren’t big are making what Platinum artists in the 90s were making per show. Young Thug makes per show what Biggie did.

Say what you want about the music but money is so much better now for artists

An artist like Cam two albums in, with multiple hit records, would be making a a shyt load of money doing shows now.

There's so many stories of artists in the 80s and 90s with hit records and platinum albums still living with their parents. Now artists have regional hits and make 20K a month doing shows alone.

Hits before Diplomats situation?:patrice:

What Means the World to You, Horse & Carriage, were hits. 357 was a street hit not a billboard one.

Those were not hits, and neither one of his first 2 albums sold much.

And by the time he signed with the Roc, he was labeless.

I don’t know why you’re arguing to argue. They were too 100 songs on billboards. They were hits. There’s nothing to dispute. I’m not going back and forth when I’m providing facts. I debate with facts not feelings. Please come correct.

And his first album went Gold. Second sold over 300K. That’s good for the level of artist he was.

And he wasn’t labelless Dame had to buy him out of his contract. They tried to get out their contract by running into Sony but it didn’t work.

Young thug making what biggie made per show isn't surprising considering inflation.

Show money is a different animal now since the actual music is worthless. The showis the product
