the man who invented the 360, lyor cohen
:comeon::comeon:Lyor didnt event shyt, 360 deals are originally indie (rock)label deals as they didn't sell alotta records therefore low profit so they started to recoup elsewhere; show money, merch other revenue streams etc. So hence why when major labels started seeing low profits from record sales because of downloads, they adopted the indie label strategy of 360 deals:comeon::comeon::comeon:

you're right fam... i know for a fact that lyor has been on many interviews, claiming how he made the 360 deal popular.. but according to this article, which still calls Lyor the mastermind behind it, Jeff Hanson was the creator. This article also has a great quote from J. Cole, on his 360 deal, and the pros and cons of a new artist having one

Lupe broke down 360's from top to bottom and Lyor of course was behind that too:

another great article on 360's with Lyor making another appearance... dude is just the devil

"Horse & Carriage" was my intro to Cam, that was heavy on SD radio, Mase feature was what did it for me, as I 13 year old Mase fan.

Children of the Corn was my first intro to KILLA CAM long before his solo career and the Diplomats...

First heard Cam on a uptown deejay Super Sam mixtape along with the C.O.C crew...

:whew: I was an instant fan

Especially when he heard Cam spit this verse on a C.O.C freestyle which was used later on the Dipset "Your Way" track...

Shoulda came for a loan, you know that scrilla's tight
But what's ill tonight, Killa gotta kill his wife
Yup, address her homey, won't say he left her lonely
Seen some transactions, don't need a testimony

When I dump, you'll get bumped, yeah them bunkbed caskets
And a brother just smiled, I just got him a ditch
Another motherless child, cuz they father's a snitch :damn:

JMJ had 50 cent signed to a fukked up deal at Columbia for 6 albums with just an advance of 65k of which he onky recieved 5,000 $ :dead:

Because 50k went to JMJ and 10k went to the Lawyer..

So 50 went back to the streets with that 5k to buy dope to hustle...

When he found out later on he was entitled to that 50k ...he confronted JMJ about it and spoke about it in a interview:

mentor Jam Master Jay instead of paying JMJ the $50,000 he was owed when 50 signed to Columbia.

He was quoted saying, "I'm thinking it's cheaper to kill him. I give a ni**a 10 cent, blow his f**kin' head off." He later expressed regret over those thoughts. :picard:

And hov situation with Dej Jam wasnt all Peaches and Cream.... :yeshrug:

Remember when he wanted to sever ties with Def Jam in 2009 and release the Blueprint 3 independently via Roc Nation??

Lyor told him ... "You better go talk to Doug"

And Doug Morris of Universal/Def Jam responded to jay.... "Cool...give me 5 million and ill let you walk" :leostare:

fortunately Jay had that liquid capital to "free him" thanks to that advance from Live Nation

:sas1:

But for now, let me get back to this paper
I'm a couple bands down and I'm tryin' to get back
I gave Doug a grip and lost a flip for five stacks
Yeah, I'm talkin' 5 comma, 6 zeros, dot zero, here Doug
Back to runnin' circles round nikkas, now we squared up - 'Run this town"
wit jay that's not having trouble wit the label. He had one album left and wanted to leave so he could put it out on his new label(roc nation) and help it launch the label. He knew the album was gonna be huge and would springboard the label.

He said he and Doug flipped the coin, jay win he pays 2. 5 mill to get out and if Doug win he 5 mill. He loss, shyt probably was a double sided coin. But none the less, why would def jam let him leave for nothin?

i really hope you know the difference between net and gross

yea uzi could have MADE 100 million off a tour.. and have to pay out 99.9 million of it to the IRS, his label, management, stylist, property tax, budget being recouped, etc etc etc

stop thinking anybody but the bank and the IRS know what people are making.. all that net worth, forbes, calculations, "i signed a deal worth...", is all bullshyt unless you seeing the bank statements and tax returns with your own eyes

shyt i made 65k last year... now ask me how much of it i actually took home. and they in a higher tax bracket with stipulations and debt to pay back their employers
xo your life is a song. The label made about 5 mill off it and uzi made 1 reportedly. U don't even know what the man talking bout lol
