Only downside to these type of workouts is that they're boring as fukk. I usually find my mind wandering and want to do something else.

@Originalgangsta317 you got any tips for breaking up the monotony?

That's why there is a time limit.

Doing 10-15 sets of pullups, pushups, dips, etc on your own time limit would get boring.

That's why that 30 mins is there so you can always be challenged breh, but you gotta be honest while doing the workout or it will get boring.

When I first got to the joint,I was about 145 pounds,I couldn't bench 135,so I was pretty weak.

My first year locked up I did straight calisthenics

Here was my routine:

Grab the stop watch and set it at 30mins and start it

I started off trying to complete 100 pullups,150 dips,150 body squats and 200 pullups within 30 mins or less, and everytime it got easier I added 2 reps to the pullups,5 reps to the dips, and 10 reps to the pushups and body squats. The best I ever got up to was 180 pullups,400 dips,450 pushups and 300 body squats in 30 mins, and knocked out 1,000 pushups every saturday in 45 mins.

The pushups and dips were done together, take a 5 min break, then the pushups and bodysquats were done together, and the 1,000 pushups saturdays were done alone.

For a year straight I did this with NO WEIGHTS and it cut me up something serious and gave me long wind,I was strong and in great shape, the first time I went back to the bench press I hit 135 like it was nothing, hit 225 easily and got a one rep of 300 pounds.

My squat, was about 275 ATG and 310 in the bucket(Prison slang for squating and making your butt touch the flat bench or a chair.)

But after I picked up the weights,I no longer did this crazy routine anymore,as I loved the weights.

But I just started this back up and started back from scratch and got 100 pullups,150 dips,150 body squats and 200 pushups in 20 mins breh's.

Try this, any questions feel free to ask.

this is very similar to my workout routine. All bars no weights. When you go for reps on the bars it cuts you up something serious and builds strength that you can't duplicate elsewhere especially if you know what variations and holds to incorporate in your workout. I average between 800-1000 reps on the bars a day when im not training clients all day. Starting off as a hard gainer and pretty weak, its the only thing that helped me put on strength and lean muscle quick I know from experience that you are right and know what you're talking about. If you don't stay consistent you'll lose muscle endurance but you're overall strength won't fade which is what i love. I can take a break for a month or two without my body losing shape.

Thanks breh, finally someone who can back me up and knows for sure that what I'm saying is no lie.

Alot of guys I was incarcerated with did hella bodyweight exercises and were crazy strong, and like you said it shreds you right up.

800-1000 reps daily is alot of reps, but I'm not surprised as calisthenic nuts in prison hit reps that high as well, and yes breh, that's why I told them,if you take a guy who lifts weights faithfully and a guy who does calisthenics faithfully and make them stop working out for a year, and take them back to the gym,the calisthenic guy would be stronger.

Thanks again breh.

this is b/s you can't have a strength competition starting with bench pressing.....

I bet if they started with deadlifts the results would have varied...

People forget that weight lifting is a SKILL. Obviously a barman is gonna have to get used to weightlifting movements and vice versa. Why would someone who doesn't lift be able to outperform someone who is a power lifter? It's apples and oranges

This is also true, because breh doesn't have the neuromechanics to suddenly start baring weights.....

Either way this is no shade at the powerlifter because that Kat is a beast and his motions were flawless when it came to squatting and benching, perfect form...
