If she dropping 40 point triple dubs in the league she will be fine. It also depends what team she get drafted too. The league gotta make sure she don’t get drafted to the fukking Connecticut sun

I haven’t seen anybody in the league with her level of flash and play ever

Sabrina was a star but Caitlyn is diff, she puts on shows out there it’s like watching curry plus she white and not super butch , that should be a cheat code for the league

She need to go somewhere like the Las Vegas aces where they paying folks under the table, they got sold out games. Tom Brady just bought into the franchise
why? There's a reason CT got a team with no NBA affiliation(back when that was a thing with the WNBA), CT fans support women's basketball. that "big market" shyt is played out, if she balls out the most important thing is if the WNBA actually knows how to market her. they were still squeezing whatever juice is left in promoting Taurasi and Bird instead of focusing on the young girls coming up.

NBA is what it is on the backs of individual greats leading teams. The standard was set long ago and it’s why these guys make better money than any league aside from maybe MLB

I'd say no league pays like the NBA

9 guys in the nba are making over 40 mill, 40 guys over 30 mill

And nba owners are still making money hands over fists

only like 15 guys in baseball make over 30 mill and they play 162 games

It's not just load management and 3 pointers. How do you sustain or grow a sport when the vast majority of media coverage is negative? There's zero way Roger Goddell or the NFL would sit back and allow ESPN, Fox, etc to trash their product 24/7 all day every day. Yet every time you turn on NBA coverage on a channel that hosts NBA games, you immediately are met with disdain for the product by commentators. On TNT you immediately realize many of the hosts don't even watch NBA basketball and despise the modern game. Nor are the commentator's complaints regulated to just complaining about the legitimate things we all see, from load management to other stuff. They're shytting on legit great players, dismissing great teams, and focusing more on drama than basketball.

What happens to the NBA when Bron retires? We already have a glimpse: the media is making new Brons. Guys they will disrespect, slander, and attack nonstop. How far are we from the "Giannis only has one ring, is he overrated" narrative? Peep the narratives about Luka. Peep the disrespect Embiid faces. Peep the disinterest Tatum gets. This is BAD for the sport and at some point the NBA needs a commish who puts that SAS style bullshyt out the door.

Facts all the way

I disagree, Jonquel Jones was a beast and won MVP over there and no one even cared. I feel like they got a team off the strength of Uconn or some shyt

Nobody wanted to see them in the finals last year either. I still think markets play a part especially in a smaller league like the WNBA

They got a team off the strength of UConn and fans actually go to their games because they play at the casino. Jones got a State Farms commercial, her issue is she didn't have the pre-built in college hype and rep like you see with other WNBA stars. She didn't have the UConn/South Carolina/Notre Dame/Tennessee/etc marketing machine of playing on ESPN for 4 years like the stars that came from those schools. That's the WNBA's problem, if they not already someone who was hyped up and built their rep in college they have zero idea how to promote them.

My Pops Forever RIP
Those things still won't solve the fundamental problem with the WNBA though in that people just don't care about the product compared to their college peers who have less money and resources but garner more attention. When the college game is more entertaining than the WNBA product with less resources and lower tier coaching, you have a problem. It's the exact reason why a lot of those coaches want no part of jumping to the WNBA as they'd essentially be out of sight and out of mind in the WNBA game. You can blame it on money sure, but they have arguably more visibility and resources than the college game does.

It's also not the NBA player's responsiblity to give up revenue to help out their WNBA counterpart. It'd be nice if they did, but they shouldn't feel obligated to do so.

The biggest issue currently facing the IMO is that nearly half the owners (or somewhere around that number) just don't have the bread or resources compared to the other owners that own NBA teams as well. If they really want to start solving the problem, they need to kick the broke owners out and bring some in that will actually have the money to spend to improve the game.
for the same reason why the NBA would fail during that time of the year: Competing with the outdoors ain't easy.

Also, women's ball is more ingrained in college where there's a built-in fanbase no matter what. It's the one sport where we do prefer amateurs over pros, but the WNBA is slowly getting itself together.

Overpaying players that don’t matter. No one does it like the NBA
