This is like asking why K pop artists are not making revolutionary music about the opprssive capitalism in South Korea.

There are dozens of africans artists singing abiut the struggle for decades.

You won't find them among the 'afrobeats' singer. It's not its purpose/DNA

Afrobeat (without the S) had Fela Kuti: he sang about oppression :

I dont think kpop is even close as a comparison. Not its purpose? Its music, you can make it about anything. Hip hop was just party music but they still have conscious hiphop. Whats stopping afrobeats artists from doing what fela was doing?

Examples have been posted in this thread about Afrobeats artists who do that
:snoop:

Where is the pan African Chicago drill? Or the pan African New Orleans Bounce?

Why doesn’t Travis Scott rap about freeing the Sahel from Franco-American forces?

Why? Afrobeats are essentially pop songs...

Afrobeats and Hip-Hop are not the same. KPop is more suited comparison

fukk that, black people are oppressed worldwide. We should start treating them like people treat Michael jordan, they have a platform and they should use it for the uplifting of their race.

Evidently you haven’t heard of or any old negro spirituals which is the foundation of a lot of revolutionary music that followed. Educate yourself. The fact you think music doesn’t motivate or inspire period is mind blowing by itself

Our people don’t need anymore motivating from music to lift themselves up from their situations.

They need jobs, connections, and tangibles that will be there for them after their hard work at college or tradeschool.

Ask the coli brehs that are in the mass layoff thread what’s more important.
