People trying to diminish Wayne by saying he has a ghostwriter doesn't get it. His lyrics aren't even what puts him in the GOAT race, his cadence, flow, longevity, delivery and wit/humor are all elite for any MC.

if rap was bball I'd have assists like James Worthy...

:usure:

No nikka has ever been called elite and gotten such a blatant pass for one-dimensional rap laced with tons of wack filler. EVER.

I'd listen to Mac Dre over Red any day, every day. Harlem born and raised, heard Stretch and bob from their inception, family member is a famous rapper, grew up on nothing but hip hop, so please spare me the usual cliche shyt and give me bars. Red is among the most overrated EVER to me. I'm not impressed that he smokes weed and is ugly and buys marijuana from bodegas. fukk that bum gay nikka and his litany of underwhelming albums.

I have never figure out hwy, of all the dope as spitters out of the tri state, nikkas got behind this goofy nikka. Bizarre.
lol...man Redman gets props because he's one of the most wholly unique, original and creative lyricists and all around hip-hop artists ever. He has some duds in his catalog, but what rapper with a career spanning over 2 decades doesn't? HIs first 3 albums are all bangers. He could always spit with the best of them. He's funny as fukk...maybe the funniest rapper ever. You may not value his caricature-esque style and persona much, but that's just as much art spawned of creativity and talent as somebody rapping about the socioeconomic ills of the black underclass, or the military-industrial complex or whatever. He's comes from as totally pure of a creative well as any aartist.

Me and my brother used to always laugh at that "assists like James Worthy" line because it was so stupid it was funny. The line made no sense whatsoever and he still spit it with passion and confidence with zero fukks given. He has enough dope bars and "technical" emceeing ability that when he throws in something like that, it just makes you go ":wtf: :russ:" and adds to the overall humor and flair of the performance.

He's weird, but accessibly street nikka weird. He can rap about packing guns and fukking bytches, etc. and still throw in references to pro wrestlers, Martians, and Godzilla villains without coming off like a nerd. Dude is a legend. Can't see how he's overrated at all. No one else can do this.

Generally speaking...NO ONE, HATE HIM OR LOVE HIM, CAN LEAVE JAY Z OFF ANY TOP LIST. He been around way too long and been way to successful to be excluded. Leave your personal feelings at the door with lists. Thats why I dont even make them.

how can you front on Lauryn

1:04mark :lawd:

2:50mark :ohlawd:

44second mark :mindblown: :mindblown:

:salute:

I would never downplay her emceeing credentials. It's just her body of work is too limited for me to call her top 20 ever. The Fugees first album sucked, but she was impressive She was killing it on The Score, as 1/3 of a group. Miseducation was good as well, but most of it was singing. Then she went crazy.

I was about 16 when Pac died. It's funny, nobody I knew ever mentioned Pac among the best emcees before he died. Then after he died, it's like it became mandatory to list him as one of the GOATs. By about 98 or 99, I saw people who never bought a Pac album or even listened to one, or even had him on their radar as a top rapper talking about he's top 5 all time.

Word. Pac was the most popular rapper, never take that away from him. But nobody was like "Man Pac gets busy on the mic" ever.
Exactly.

On another note - Prodigy should have been on the list.

this is one of the best lists i've ever seen on here. i don't agree w/ lauryn hill/andre 3000/dmx, but thats why it is "bugsmoran's opinion"
i think cam'ron should be on there before dmx too. 2pac is perfectly understandable, once you factor in album releases. no one's ever messed with that thuglife-7 day theory run. only redman and ice cube come close in that matter. kool g rap would go in my number one spot, if you're going for a strictly mc perspective. like i said before, it all depends on what the factor of your list is based upon...

To be fair

90% of your list has a limited subject matter

Cam'ron was one of the most important figures in rap history and has a long catalog of great music

Big Punisher is top 20 off skill alone. His debut rap album is a zillion times better than Lauryn Hill's from a pure MCing level.

You my nikka Bugs, just disagree with some of this

I never do greatest ever lists. Rating emcees is a wholly subjective exercise and dependent upon their aesthetic appeal to the individual. People claiming they can make an objective best emcees list are deluding themselves. I only make favorites lists.
