i think cam'ron should be on there before dmx ...
i thought hard about putting Cam on the list...

i think lyrically Cam and Dmx is about equal but Dmx is a better song writer, has a better voice, puts alot of emotion in his rhymes, great storyteller and his first 3 albums he dropped was crazy

You don't value humor, which is huge for any artform, let alone rap. Charisma can also cancel out lack of emotion (i.e. Wayne, Jeezy, Cam, etc)

classic storytelling track:

life's a biitch is one of my fav game spittin tracks ever tho...

i do value humor... big reason why Slick Rick, Redman, and Eminem are highly ranked

the comedy they put in their rhymes is top notch

great argument you made there about Cam being "one of the most important figures in hip hop history"

You're not from America, you wouldn't understand. He had a major influence over the last 10 years. He's really the only artists to successfully put on his sidekicks and they go on to have platinum selling albums and singles. Along with changing the way people talk, dress, and beats they picked. The Diplomats movement was probably the biggest movement in rap in the early to mid 2000s.

i agree with all that and just because i'm not from America doesn't mean i don't see influence, Dip Set are known around the world. i just think "one of the most important figures in hip hop history" is overstating the fact just a tad. please tell me who these sidekicks are that went platinum? Jim Jones? Juelz? Hell Rell? singles maybe but i don't think any solo Dip Set album went plat.

Common is too low...by quite a bit.

Ghostface is missing. Raekwon also.

A top 20 will never be all agreeable in ranking but other than the 3 I just said I ain't mad at the people on it.

Bolded are the only good nikkas on the list. Plus you got Big Pun one of the most overrated nikkas. Props for putting Chuck D he is underrated.

:stopitslime: Bugsmoran is a SOHH/Coli legend, deserves more respect than this shyt breh.

Interesting list. I couldn't put Lauryn Hill so high given the questions over how much stuff she actually wrote, plus the limited catalog.

can't go wrong with that top 3 tho

the Library of Congress has wyclef as a primary songwriter on some of those Score songs....i mean besides the songwriter and producer controversy for MIseducation i get the odd feeling he wrote alot of verses for her on The Score.... :patrice:

Camron was dope but his music didnt have an impact on HipHop like the 20 Emcees on my list... Camron's Swagger had more of an impact than his music...

so Eminem, andre 3000, lauryn hill & common sense had more of an impact on hip-hop than killa cam?

cmon bugs.
