Should add I believe - TRULY - that if you can make a top 10 or top 20 list I do not trust your opinions or appreciation of hip hop as a legit art form.

HipHop was built on competition... who's the best Dj, B boy vs B boy, who's the best Mc

so i dont see nothing wrong with making a greatest mc list or comparing styles

Both his albums, the recent stickied mixtape, every guest verse... then go back and check the UN material. Think of it it in terms of legit art. Like, if nikkas started talking movies with you, you'd never say a brilliant horror director was worse than a mediocre drama director just because of subject matter. So think of Roc as an M.C. who had turned 70s Blaxploitation into a true artform. His movies are better than the blockbusters even though they lack the hype, budget, and mainstream subject matter. He kills ever camera angle, scene, and bit of dialogue.

Damn....so what the fukk was Busta thinking when he had that nikka on the bench?

He does that better than Ghost, Kool G or Rae? :usure:

Very true. I won't deny that. I still disagree with that approach. always argue with my people about this shyt. We can debate this without it being too personal. I grew up in a family where we cursed each other out viciously over shyt like who drank the last of the ginger ale or pepsi but still loved each other the next minute. Ain't no thang to me.

Late bloomer. Some cats come of age way down the line. Nobody's fault. Roc simply blossomed and found his lane.

Yea I remember these verses which I liked alot...Busta really had some spitters on Flipmode with Roc and Digga...imagine the greatness if they had made a real album together

Yeah, I started rockin out with his UN stuff and then that Marcberg dropped. Not sure why he stopped fukking with Pete heavy but Roc is nice on the boards in his own right. Busta was probably too busy fukking with Hype and Pharrell. I'm young so the old heads probably have a better grasp on it..

Plus, Roc joined flipmode post the imperial as a lord have mercy replacement right as Busta went from platinum consistently to grinding out gold albums. His ability to guide careers couldn't have been as strong as it once was. Plus he jumped record labels etc.

Roc, if memory serves, saw the inevitable major label limbo writing on the wall and removed himself amicably from the flipmode fold and went HAM on petestrumentals then the UN album where he had production so good people swore the credits were a typo and Pete Rock was the actual producer. But nah, Roc did those.

I got them. I still owe 'em to Mel, because his comp crashed. Mailed 'em to him because I'm a computer illiterate - but they never got to him. Sad situation. I'm looking at the files on my comp right now. Literally. Will figure it out and get them to both of y'all.
