I think 2Pac is the most overrated rapper ever btw.

Reason people rank him high

He was extremely popular, probably most popular rapper ever
The controversy he caused
He had a lot of hits

If you break down his catalog of music, it's extremely light on quality material

I was about 16 when Pac died. It's funny, nobody I knew ever mentioned Pac among the best emcees before he died. Then after he died, it's like it became mandatory to list him as one of the GOATs. By about 98 or 99, I saw people who never bought a Pac album or even listened to one, or even had him on their radar as a top rapper talking about he's top 5 all time.

I think Wayne had a bigger impact on the art of rapping than almost anybody. GOAT delivery and longevity put him up high in my opinion. Tip, not TI, is one of the pillars of modern rap, not sure how he gets left off...

Red is among the most overrated EVER to me. I'm not impressed that he smokes weed and is ugly and buys marijuana from bodegas. fukk that bum gay nikka and his litany of underwhelming albums.

I can't imagine declaring Jay top 5 while shorting KRS... or Sayin Ghost is the man while ignoring Kool Keith... or propping up average M.C.s like Guru and Cl Smooth because they were fortunate enough to team up with beast producers while penalizing.. shyt, even nikkas like A-Butta.

Both his albums, the recent stickied mixtape, every guest verse... then go back and check the UN material. Think of it it in terms of legit art. Like, if nikkas started talking movies with you, you'd never say a brilliant horror director was worse than a mediocre drama director just because of subject matter. So think of Roc as an M.C. who had turned 70s Blaxploitation into a true artform. His movies are better than the blockbusters even though they lack the hype, budget, and mainstream subject matter. He kills ever camera angle, scene, and bit of dialogue.
