So, it’s failproof solely because it was an ambiguous filipino-puerto rican?

So, he should kompa next? Maybe One Direction should doo-wop?

My point is black people discarded this music is chasing the strip clubs and ratchet shyt.

If Usher made a new swing album at the same time as Bruno Mars and he failed then you have argument.

Can’t fault a man for winning if he’s running unopposed no matter their skin complexion.
WTF are you talking about :what:

Nothing is fail proof.

If black people discard that music why did we generally like the album then:what:

In today’s climate It’s obvious that if a non black person makes a style of music it’s going to be be more popular. Which was her point.

If Toni Braxton made her exact same discography today there’s no fukking way she would be a superstar. She would be at Sza’s level

Who’s responsible for black artists to make more money?

Better believe that Black artist, especially hugely successfully commercial Black artist. Have HUGE fan bases of other races. It's all a numbers game. look at TheWeeknd and Rhianna. Music doesn't exist in a vacuum. If it appeals to the masses, the majority will consume it as well.

Also maybe I'm missing something, I don't understand how Bruno Mars is culturally appropriating anything. He's clearly been influenced by a lot of these genres. But thing is, dude is legit fukking talented. It's like people saying Eminem is a culture vulture. How? The dude clearly knows about the history of hip hop, is a talented lyricist, and clearly cares about hip hop. There are plenty of other artist of all colors that fit that check list?

Are the "Migos" culture vultures. Outside of the being Black what have they given hip hop? Do they care about the craft of emceeing? Do they know about the history of the art form that they generate income from?

People are throwing around the term culture vulture in ways it doesn't even apply. It's almost like well. Black people(Hip hop and R&b) for you. Hispanic people(Hip hop and Country and Salsa) White people (Country, Pop and Rock) etc...

That's not how music works or even should work.

So many agents in here:damn:

I like Bruno as well. But calling a sister stupid and a bytch over dude:wtf:

A lot of exposals in this thread :mjpls:

Naw, it's just that this forum have a lot of non-DOSUS.

A lot have very narrow minds and lack critical thinking skills. They lack history and have the same frame of thought as white supremacists.

That's why I like to know someone background before debating with them.

There are probably more non-DOSUS in the Coli than DOSUS.

As ive said before as well, i dont believe black people alone have the numbers or infrastructure to create a "superstar" among ourselves....a viable artist? Hell yea, a bruno mars type figure, by ourselves , no. Musical success on a grand scale is approved manufactured and funded beyond us and without us. The music industry is a racket..all these companies are intertwined and we are on the outside of that.

If people want to protest for one us us to get multiplatform multimillion dollar marketing schemes cracking for one of us comparable to bruno adele etc (because thats the REAL difference between our big artists and othersl go for it ...but for what exactly ? What will we get from it

On viable artists side, plenty artists from gospel to rnb to rappers are able to carve out niches and service them and make worthwhile livings while making great organic music. Look at maxwell yolanda adams etc

We talk this black independence but dont seem to know what were aiming for. Doing shyt on our own WILL NOT come with superbowl performances and pepsi endorsements...and top ten radio play...and what has all that done for us anyway? What did the black community, as a whole , gain from forfeiting out talent to these corporations? So what are we missing without it? A pat on the ass?

Then on the other hand, when you taking all that money, it leads to one being at least silent on issues imperative to us or at the other end, c00ning for leverage and more corp money. ..aint shyt free. Or you get radical and get cut off word to kapernick

Either we want to be in bed wit the beast or not, lets make up our minds

I’m strictly logical. It has to make logical sense. Don’t just blurt out things like that bird in the clip.

Jackson 5 appropriated “Rockin’ Robin” and The Jacksons did the same with “Blame It on the Boogie”.

Those were cac tracks. I like their versions bka covers.
No it’s not logical

It’s a bunch of dumbasses who who shyt on black people and disguise in pro-blackness

Y’all ninjas that constantly do this are clowns

There’s no reason any black person should be angry calling her a dumb bytch over those comments

And it succeeded to the extent it did because he’s not black. It’s both.

But you’re one of the main posters that push interracial bullshyt so I would expect you to dismiss race in this topic :hubie:
Well bruno has the machine behind, and has for years...dude just makes hits, he knows and he goes for making songs that are digestible to everyone, anything he put out on gonna succeed because it's gonna get played on the radio,tv,everywhere.

Interracial bullshyt? :dahell:

Man I don't believe god wants us to be so damn divided...in the end race isn't supposed to matter...

Not a fan of Bruno Mars at all. He kind of bores me.

I just think he makes the kind of music he wants to, though. Can't hate on him for his success. We just have to support the real black music as much as we can. If we should be mad at anyone, it's the Grammy voters. The best solution is to just stop watching the Grammys. Don't talk about them either. Black artists who care should stop attending this event too.

Imagine if Jay Z and Kanye made skipping the Grammys the cool thing to do.

No. A lot of people who can think logically and don't follow hive ideology because it comes from a black person. She sounds stupid, her whole argument sounds stupid. I'd tell her to her face.
