@SuikodenII made a lot of great points.

my take is...I dont believe Broner made a mistake going to 147. I just believe that it wouldve been better for him to not immediately take another fight at 147. I wouldve preferred him fighting at 140. He basically would be holding 2 titles at once, so he couldve took on a lesser 140lb fighter and campaigned there and made that "his" division. Broner was gonna have viewers regardless. I think that they tried to push him to be a PPV star too fast. His star status was was elevating faster than his skills were maturing. You have to have time to settle in at a weight when you first move up or down. There are adjustments that just cant be made overnight...such as speed, power, ability to take a punch, etc.

He has enough power for ww he just fought like a dummy half the fight. He showed no respect to Marcos, lots of blatant dirty stuff that a good ref would have stopped immediately but instead was let go till the fight degenerated into a fukking mess that had both fighter going dirty. Broner also had a wack corner and if it's any indication of how they train him his performance isn't a suprise . He need's somebody else training him asap or he might be stuck fighting on undercards to get on ppv.

I agree with you and anyone else who says power at WW isnt his issue. His lack of preparation, boxing skills, warming up before the fight properly were way bigger bullet points than his lack of power. I dont think anyone expected him to KO MM anyway.

the thing is there were a lot of good fights out there for him at lightweight still.

he should have built his resume at lw before doing anything else. look at these names

1. Yuriorkas Gamboa
2. Ray Beltran
3. Ricky Burns
4. Miguel Vazquez
5. Antonio DeMarco
6. Richar Abril
7. Omar Figueroa
8. Jorge Linares
9. Paulus Moses
10. Kevin Mitchell

those names really dont mean much though for what its worth. all of those guys are severely flawed with limited market value. what we have to look at is....it very difficult to make fights that involve different promotional firms. I agree, stay at 135 and be GOAT at that weight....but boxing is a dangerous sport. You gotta get while the getting is good. he had the opportunity to fight a WW champ who only has KOed about 15% of his opponents. that was excellent timing and a great move...but they got too excited. the fight with Paulie was a tell tell sign that AB wasnt gonna have a great run at WW so soon after moving there.

AB basically overpowered 135lbers but he didnt look that impressive to me there outside of his speed and power advantages. still fights methodical. covers up and allows his opponent to tee-off on him. not very active with the jab for a so-called "boxer".

his biggest weakness however is his defense. cant believe people were saying he is a good defensive fighter with great offense. that defense can only work on guys with lesser physical attributes such as speed or reach. MM went right over top of him. then Broner dont move his head. he was pulling back with his hands down. his lack of movement in general causes him to get hit. no feet movement, no head movement, no torso movement.

I thought he would, he's an excellent body puncher and Maidana can't stand body punches at all.....but Maidana swarmed in and the rest is history. Maidana is also a dedicated body puncher, and landed some vicious hooks to Broner that I thought would've gotten him outta there, tough tough kid :wow:

Also, I gotta admit, I'm not too optimistic about Broner, all because he's from Ohio. :pachaha: In recent times, Ohio fighters just don't respond well to adversity.

-Timothy Austin.....stopped in a fight he was winning against Rafael Marquez and POOF, gone
-Ricardo Williams Jr........won a silver medal, took a loss early, ON THE UNDERCARD OF AUSTIN/MARQUEZ :damn:, and POOF, career went to shyt
-Kelly Pavlik.........The Executioner embarrassed him and snatched his soul, now he's playing an infinite game of beer pong by himself
-Willie Nelson.........wasting his size adv. by not dedicating himself. It still befuddles me that he was planning on facing Macklin at 160 when he should be at 147 getting his Paul Williams on...
-Broner......we'll see

Shawn Porter still undefeated, having just won a major title, I think mentally he has the most upside...

I am not saying it isnt. What I am saying is...I think his offense is more easily corrected than his defense. His offense would improve greatly just by increasing his output. His defense....well, can you teach him to be on his toes more at this stage? can you teach him to move his head more? maybe. but his major malfunction is he has a switch that says offense and one that says defense and he has to hit that switch every time he transitions from one to the other.

if AB does not go for immediate rematch with MM then he needs to defend that lightweight belt. this would be a good look for him if wouldnt blow up in weight between fights. its obvious that he is a weight-cutter and for that reason, making 135 AND being effective may be a thing of the past.

lol @ trying to fast track your way to becoming a PPV star

It took Mayweather nearly 10 years to get that PPV with Gatti.

It took Manny about 8 years. (it helped he had barrera/jmm in the division)

I thought about this. Even if he would have done things the "right way," as far as gradually moving up he's such a flawed fighter he would have taken a loss anyway.

He's still a star within the boxing world, but as far as being this giant mainstream crossover PPV superstar, that was never gonna happen. He was always too beatable to become a star of that magnitude.

Broner is young if they could have built him the right way facing actual legit fighters, and actual champs he would have grew the right way coming into his prime around 28 like most fighters, but they rushed it and set him up for a hard hard fall. It's rare you run into the young elite greats like Floyd and Garcia, Broner has shown over and over he wasnt great, they should have dusted him and tried to let him rebuild vs lesser comp post Paulie IMO.....

Broner was set up here, no way does he struggle with a pillowfisted Paulie then they throw him to the wolves to face a Maidana, somebody has some questions to answer

But the fans picked Maidana as his opponent and you are on record calling him a cherry picked fighter. Now, after Maidana wins, you're changing your stance and calling Maidana elite and questioning why AB went against him:ufdup:

Is it oochie wally or is it one mic?:snoop:

I never called him a cherry pick, I was the one saying he wasn't shyt, get it right:demonic:

My issue with Broner was that he aint belong at this level I tried to be a fan, but he lacked the skill, he could have got better but Garcia cleaned out 140, so truth be told there weren't too many names to fight from 135-140, but but but but at 147 he was very much a cherry picker, I vehemently called him a lower B level fighter and said he would lose to most in the top 10 at WW, he get no credit whatsoever for facing Malignaggi or Maidana when they were the easy fighters available at 147, and the most beatable fighters at 147, now answer this why should I kiss his ass after arguably losing to both.................................
