I think everybody is missing the real issue with Broner. He needs a trainer that is official, you can't make it at the next level without a championship-caliber trainer. Behind every great fighter is a great trainer. And he's still running with the local dude from the youth gymHis footwork is poor, he can't defend any left jabs/hooks, and he loses composure under pressure.
His corner gave him no useful advice or strategies. He's coasted off talent alone, but hard work will always beat talent eventually.
both you and @SuikodenII have a point. I am of the belief that fathers or father figures can only develop fighters so much. Shane Mosley, Zab Judah, and yes, even Roy Jones wouldve been better if not guided by their father's for so long. Those guys basically got away with athleticism but werent as good technically as they couldve been. Broner has some technical issues. Forget about his power...thats not even a big deal. At a point you have to learn from someone with true pedigree. FMj was different because FMs was a legitimate boxer....but even still...I think lil Floyd had to learn some things from Roger and Jeff and on his own. One man cant give you but so much knowledge.
Broner is likely to arrogant to follow another trainer's advice and teachings wholeheartedly.
I think Broner's arrogance is an act, i think he's a scared little boy and he pretends to be arrogant to deflect his inner bytch. Ali was arrogant, shyt even Prince Naseem was arrogant. Broner is effeminate. It's all for attention.
Clowns like this bammaI gotta co-sign you on this....
PEDIGREE is so important. I can give so many examples. Remember when Forrest hurt Shane Mosley? Jack panicked and was in even more shock than Shane was.
on the other hand, there arent very many top notch technical trainers today. seems as if most are fading away. Floyd Sr. looks like he could get a lot out of AB if he would listen and do what he is supposed to do. If AB is gonna stick with that Philly Shell, he should seek out someone who has experience with it like Toney as an advisor/camp member...even though James is not the best model to follow as far as conditioning. Sugar Hill would be adept at teaching the Kronk's catch and counter style. AB needs to be training in the Kronk or in Philly. Not only do I think AB has been lacking technical schooling but I question how good his sparring has been. Who did he spar with for this fight?

yeah, but even when its not large crowds around he's been caught acting like an ass. Naz was a lot better than Broner because he had one-punch power.....he was arrogant outside the ring too though and that was his downfall. he wouldnt listen to his damn trainers. Dawson...same way.
sn: if Guzman couldve screwed his head on straight, he'd be right in this mix with the Garcia's and Broners. the boy can box his ass off. he is a lil old now though.
Spence says they never sparred, but everybody else at TMT gym says he put Broner on his ass. The whole vegas boxing community knew about it, wonder who floyd bet onthat sparring is a mirror image of how he fights in real fights. he fights like I played Street Fighter II. block all attacks then unleash an offensive onslaught. that overwhelms opponents who are not as good as you but doesnt work on top level opposition. now the question is....were the rumors that Spence gave him that work true? if so....they shouldve re-thought their path post-Paulie.
C'mon now, he's better than that. He's a solid alphabet soup title holder.I don't think the blame should be put at his moving up to 147 because I think he would have taken that L at any weight once he stopped fighting club fighters and actually faced a legit opponent.
He is not that good...he is an average, run of the mill ESPN Friday Night Fights level fighter.
